They don’t have to be targetable by macro. In fact I’d be fine with that if the stupid things were tab-targetable and would show up on nameplates so that you could at least easily click them. Currently there is no good way, especially for ranged, to target these. It’s ridiculous.
It used to be fairly straight forward for melee / tank to take car of via tab targeting in the mess.
Think the strat we’re going to try is tanks just have to drag mobs off the orbs so tab and click targeting can work better. Or I mean at all.
Player vs’ interface… If this is intentional, it’s wrong. So wrong, just very very wrong. Wrong enough to deserve a south park episode mocking it.
Both tanking and DPSing on my Lock and Shaman. Tab will occasionally target the Exploding orbs. Most times it wont. Clicking on them is hit or miss, as it seems that enemy hit boxes take priority over theirs. Tanking, I just kite things away from them to make them easier for dps to target. It definitely feels off.
Intentional change or inconsistent bug aside, why are people tabbing to explosives? Way slower than mouse targeting in a big pack of garbage.
at the start, you couldn’t
then they changed it so you could
now it seems you only sometimes can
the only consistent work around for it is having the tank move the mobs every 2-3 seconds 1 yard. so that way it becomes easier to click on them.
just use this guide for tanks in M+ with explosive.
Wondered what was going on with this the other day, found it harder than usual to tab to them, if it even worked at all. Great.
Until this is fixed (assuming it will be) I highly recommend everyone use an explosive affix weakaura. This will make clicking these far easier.
I hope this gets some attention and is reverted to the previous behavior because it’s REAL annoying. As mentioned by other people the problem is that it’s just not consistent whether it’s going to work or not. It seems to work better when I’m doing forward/backward movement while tabbing.
Melee with 12+ button mouse play more like an fps and the mouse pointer gets totally lost most of the time. You used to just be able to quickly turn and tab.
And clicking them when they’re in a pack has never been a very doable process, you always get the mobs.
I guess I need to play to see this for myself in this current patch to understand, but I’ve never had an issue clicking explosive nameplates. Yeah, you can’t reliably click the orbs themselves in a pack of mobs. That’s what nameplates are for.
Yeah, I had difficulty tab targetting explosives. I try to just click on them since it has been so bad. I use elvui which does have an option to make the explosives have a differnt color nameplate to make the nameplate easier to identify. It’s still difficult to click on the explosives in the fustercluck of enemies during a big pull.
I sit back in caster form and save my flames and try and pop them to the best of my ability.
Weekend now, guess this ones going into “Won’t fix, deal with it” pile.
Likely.
I just got in the habit of tanking mobs and pulling them off to the side of explosives so my group could target easier.
Wasn’t near as much of a pain before this season.
I’m sure peoples keys have suffered from it, but seeing as we made it all week without a comment from a blue or a hotfix note, we probably will not see this resolved for a while.
This just adds another affix to my “Not fun” pile.
The problem is that it is inconsistent.
Sometimes I could tab to them. Ok fine. Sometimes I tabbed and couldn’t target 2 in front of me while I cycled through 10 or so mobs, twice in a row. And how do you guys mouse target them when there are 3 or 4 mobs “on top” of their nameplate? (Yes I have threat bars and nameplates turned on).
That’s not right.
Target macros
Tabbing to them is sorta reflex for me at this point. Throws me off when it doesn’t work as expected.
Target macros don’t work for me.
Made /target Explosive orb
and it wouldn’t target anything.
1/2 the time they have nameplates, 1/2 the time they don’t. Sometimes I can’t even click them because of the mobs they’re in.
How are you supposed to target them? I would really like to know.
I really wish blizzard would just go, “hey, we did something and it messed up the targeting on explosives. Our bad!”
everyone would laugh, and be like man that sucks but ok, please fix it.
This new quite blizzard who can admit to no wrong and its our problem if we don’t like their game is really aggrovateing me =p
