Currently, the Sylverian Dreamer is available with a 6-month recurring sub, and multiple sites are claiming you can buy it without a sub, for free, with a 6 month lump game time (which is how I got the Dreadwake mount last time), but I’m not seeing that anywhere in regards to this mount.
I know it was just posted, but I want to know if this is an oversight or if we’re forced to add a subscription on. I’d really rather not and just buy the game time directly like last time.

Well, the ad says it comes with a subscription, nothing about paid gametime

But why should it matter? I’m still paying for 6 months either way and the last time they did this, they allowed a 6-month game time purchase anyway.
I’m still banking on this just being a glitch or an oversight. It doesn’t seem right.

I spoke with a CS rep a few minutes ago about this, and they said it was intentional. They pointed out that you could still purchase the mount with bnet balance on its own, but the subscription required a recurring payment method instead of a finite resource like bnet balance.
I agree that this is a lame change and I would prefer that it be handled like the Dreadwake mount as well.

So if your subscription ends you lose the mount?
No. There are several WoW access "products "
-6 month reoccuring sub
-3 month reoccuring sub
-1 month reoccuring sub
-game time card from a store
-game time block purchased directly from Blizzard
-in-game token to exchange for game time.
Only the first option gives the reward. It is just like those deals at the store where you have to specifically buy 3 boxes of a specific cereal to get a free jug of milk.
Example: To qualify for a free jug of milk you must buy 3 boxes of Murloc Shells Cereal (cinnamon and sugar). You can’t buy Teldrasil Smores, Spider Snaps, or Seaweed & Sphagnum.
Go to account mgt and set up the your payment method under the subscriptions section. Select the 6 month game time product. When that bills your credit card you get a free mount. That payment for that one 6 month block of time permanently gives you the mount.
Edit - this is exactly how the Dreadwake mount worked too. It confused people then as well.

not true , i got the dreadwake and i do not have a 6 mo sub , i bought 6 mos of game time , as well as so many friends did … i know cause i do not have a CC so i can not have a sub

I think what Mirasol is referring to when they say “this is exactly how the Dreadwake mount worked” is how the mount is awarded, not the manner in which it can be purchased.
I’m more than willing to pay the exact same amount of money for my 6 months…except my payment method will allow me game-time, not sub. So…no mount for me.

when they came out with the Dreadwake , you just needed to buy 6 mo for 77 dollars , no sub needed … i know this cus i do not have a CC , so i can not have a sub . and the fact that they changed it this time sucks … i do buy my game time a 6 mo for 77 every 6 mos … so i am being punished for not having a CC … which is crap on Blizzards part … they are just trying to get more money to make up for thier loss of subs from the they keep doing to the game

Do you say this about every business that has a sale? How is Blizzard any different than other business?

It occurs to me you can set up the 6-month recurring subscription, wait to be billed for the six months (thereby awarding the mount), then cancelling the recurring subscription.
If you are one of the rare few that doesn’t have access to a credit or debit card, you are an outlier.

So, what happens if you’re already on a recurring 6 month subscription, that bills your credit card automatically, but your next billing is not for another 4 months or something? Do you still get the mount, do you have to manually add more gametime to get up to 6 months, or do you lose out on the mount because your next billing will be past the end of July?
I wasn’t able to get it last time with 6 month game time.
All you need to do is get a pre paid card or put 6 months of gold on your bnet account which will enable you to buy a 6 month sub.
Correction - appears you can’t do this for this one.
This won’t work; you can’t buy subs with balance, just game time.

I can’t believe I actually gave them money last time - they must have changed it.
I rarely post on the official forums, but this is stupid… I don’t think I’ll ever buy balance again just because of this. Why limit your clientele who are regulars with a stupid exception like this…

Well, this answered my questions. Guess I spent a lot of gold on tokens to convert to bnet balance for nothing…
