Unable to progress for almost a month

Hey
Ive been trying to complete the quest “The way of the tushi” (29414),
but every time I go to try and complete it, part way through I get ported to orgrimmar, and when I return, its just back at the start, making an infinite loop, I did report this as a bug, but that could be quite awhile longer,

Im hoping support has some ideas for progressing past this as this also prevents me from continuing the dragonflight campaign

Thanks,
(side note my avatar still thinks im a goblin but that changed awhile back, just hasn’t updated I guess, Im am infact a panda)

Id post in bug forums and check wowhead.

Already reported this as a bug almost a month, ago, wowhead has nothing, one of my friends did also have this problem though, they were also unable to figure out how to get past it

You could try a stuck on quest ticket not garunteed but you may get lucky.

My apologies if I seem dense here, but how does this old Wandering Isles quest prevent you from continuing the Dragonflght campaign? I had been about to suggest you just delete your low level Pandaren and re-roll them to see if that would perhaps solve the issue, but that bit about Dragonflight is throwing me off.

As I said, if I’m missing something, I do apologize, but the quest you’re noting here is for the starter zone for Pandaren. It shouldn’t be available to any other race and if it’s porting you to Orgrimmar, that’s even more concerning since Pandaren at that point still faction neutral. Normally if there is some rampant bug, there would usually be some comments somewhere beyond this or whatnot, but just a cursory search I just did didn’t pull up anything similar.

dragonflight added a way for race changed pandaren to get back to the wandering isle,
the race IDs for horde and ally pandas were added to the quests as well at some point,

however the game seems to think Im not a panda however and keeps sending me to orgrimmar

I have put in a ticket for this,

Edit: forgot to say, the way back is that one of the quests in thaldrazus sends you to your race starting zone, so its only available while on that quest, so I cant finish the campaign until I finish wandering isle first

Ah ha, I did not realize that was a thing. Thank you kindly for clarifying because I really was confused by your issue.

Then to jump off of what Darth suggested, you can submit your ticket here, if you haven’t already: https://us.battle.net/support/en/help/contact/472/ticket

Because there is a line between seeking some resolution and providing game hints (which GMs will shut down pretty quickly), I would suggest leaning heavily on asking if there is some workaround and that you’re at a complete standstill with no recourse as there are no notes about it in any of the community resources. If you happen to get a templated response (which most people do), absolutely reopen your ticket and resubmit it for an escalation to truly put it in a GM’s hands.

If you think to, please update your post here with however this is resolved for you. If it’s hit you and your friend, it is likely to continue being an issue until the bug is fixed and it does help having something CS folks can point to when they inevitably come along. I wish you all the best!

Tried again today after the weekly reboot, no dice, I submitted a ticket and was told to report it as a bug, which I did almost a month ago,

My thread somehow ended up in the quest section even though I thought I put it in CS

Ive meditated for the quest for way over 90 seconds total, I just cant do it in one session because of getting sent to orgrimmar and it resetting each time

The best place for a thread about this would be in the Bug Report forum, or you can also submit the bug in-game through the Bug Report feature.

I have already done so

The bug has been reported, what I need is help figuring out a work around in the meantime

Cool. Just wanted to make sure you did get it reported in a place where QA would actually see it. QA wouldn’t find out about it if it was posted here or in the Quests forums

Not sure that anyone here is going to be able to help with that unless another player has found a way around the bug. If there was a workaround currently, then a GM would have likely provided that info via your ticket.

There are some comments on WoWHead for this quest, but I’m not too sure that any apply to the issue you’re having. Here’s a link anyway, just in case you haven’t looked at them or tried some of their suggestions:

I have to admit, I haven’t played my Pandaren yet this expansion so I’m not familiar with the ability to go back to the Wandering Isle to do the opening Starter Quest Line. I may have missed a patch note or two where they mentioned changing those.

Can you give me a bit more background on which quest/steps allowed you to return? And why you need to do the Starter Quests?

Sure thing!
firstly, why I need to do the starter quests is I collect quests, and I race changed to pandaren for the sole purpose of doing them, so its very important to me

and the way to get back wasn’t mentioned in any of the patch notes, was a silent change
in 10.0 a quest called “Feels like the first time” ID 66083, plops you right at the starting spot for your race,
Race changed Worgen, Goblins and Panda’s are then able to do their starting zone,
(The horde and alliance pandaren races were also added to all the wandering isle quests so they are actually possible to accept)

If It would help, I can meet you in game to show you whats happening exactly, This is quite important to me.

Thanks Vrakthris

That quest isn’t to go back and do the starter quests as it is to get you back to the current time for the current content. You should be able to delete the starter zone quest and then use the stuck character service to get back to current time.

I’d have to agree with Jetsum here, I don’t know if the intent is to be able to go back and do the Starter Quests.

I’ve made some inquiries, so I’ll update when I hear something back.

I mean, I already did this quest to do the Worgen and Goblin starting zones, and the horde and ally pandas are eligible to do the quests on wandering isle, which would only ever happen to returning characters so It seems intentional,

Really hope we can get this resolved, this chain is a large chunk of my remaining MoP quests for me, and Im not the only one

The Panderan were the only race that started out Neutral, the quests themselves were considered neutral. So really either could do it, if it were possible for them to be there. You now choose your faction during character creation, so that works a bit differently now, the Goblin and Worgen never had that limitation or protections in place to make sure non-neutral Pandarens weren’t on the Isle, which might be why you didn’t have any issues with them.

It might be less about intent, and more updating the functionality to account for the changes in character creation.

We’ll see what I hear back.

Alright, here’s the update.

The quest “Feels like the First Time” was not intended to allow characters to return to their starting area to complete quests they may not have done originally. It was considered folks might pick up a quest that they see is available to them, but given the limitations in some areas, it was not intended that you be able to complete those quests.

This has been sent up to our QA folks to see what steps can be taken to limit the confusion that may be caused by the temporary blip to the past.

So sorry, Turkeycat, but you will not be able to complete the starter quests for that Pandaren character. The only way to do so currently is to create a Pandaren at level 1 and start out on the Wandering Isle.

Any chance for them to fix the teleport problem instead? or honestly even just for the meditation progress to persist if you exit the area, or anyway for us to change into neutral panda’s temporarily? Any of these would be perfectly acceptable solutions for the quest community

That you aren’t teleported immediately out is the fix for Pandarens returning to the Wandering Isle for that quest. They were originally being teleported to Orgrimmar/Stormwind immediately, and were unable to complete that quest.

As I said, the intent was just to pop back as part of that quest as a temporal glitch, and then exit. Not to stick around and complete starting quests.

If your goal is to be able to return and complete old quests, that would be a suggestion for our Game Developers. If seems like an unlikely change, but you never know.
