Hi, so The War Within has been really enjoyable so far. I really enjoy the content that’s available and the way all the classes I play feel. Though, every Tuesday, after maintenance, my game is simply not able to launch.
The first time it happened I didn’t think too much on it, tried to do a scan repair and that didn’t work. Okay, sucks, but whatever. Tried to uninstall battle net and reinstall that. Didn’t work. Alright, kind of annoying. The ONLY option that has actually fixed this issue for me is reinstalling the game entirely. Now, for some people this probably isn’t too big of a deal, but honestly it’s brutal for me. The area I live in doesn’t have the best ISP options available. Usually when I’m reinstalling the game, it’s around 10 mbps, 15 if I’m lucky.
Now, after looking through the forums, I’ve noticed that other people have been having this same issue. Which SUCKS, but at least I know it isn’t just an issue with me. So I’m making this post in hopes that someone either has a solution of some form or so others who are also experiencing this can chime in as well. This post will probably get swallowed into the forums but I figure I can at least vent my frustrations with this post. Hope this solution can be resolved, thanks.
I have yet to run into this issue, but I have seen a few posts about it. Are you using security software? If the game has any patches/changes to the code, it will look like a new app to those programs.
No, I thought it may have been an issue with my firewall but I made sure both WoW, battlenet, and the WoW launcher had access through it. I’m not sure if this helps, but this problem also occurs with Overwatch 2 and I have to reinstall that game as well. I’ve tried to also manually launch WoW from windows explorer, as I thought it may have been a launcher issue and that does not work either.
Something on the system is taking control of those directories. Either it is marking them as read-only or corrupting them. It could also be an issue with the storage device (drive) itself.
Possibly, this issue has seemed to follow me from a desktop I was using previously to now on this new system I have. One thing I have taken note of is when there are smaller updates, usually a hotfix, and I update WoW it has no issues, but it seems to be after every reset specifically.
Yes, no problem! So when I click play in the bnet launcher the play button turns into “Launching…”, this tends to last up to 10-15 seconds and then it goes back to play. Other times instead of saying play it will say update instead, which in that case I attempt to update. It then starts to say initializing after I click update, and then it says ready to play and the cycle repeats. One thing I have noted, when I click play I also checked task manager to see if the WoW process runs during this period and it does not. I’ve considered it being an issue with the battle net update agent, but I’ve taken the steps to address that possibility as well, clearing my bnet cache, reinstalling the launcher, closing out all bnet processes and relaunching, and also restarting the PC completely to see if that helps but it hasn’t yielded any results.
Hi, this is Mogwai on a diff char I’ve got the report ran but it appears pastebin won’t allow for me to paste it as it is too large in size is there an alternative that could possibly work?
I have no idea why it’s still like that, it also says its pending moderation on my end…I tried to recopy it and paste it to another paste and it’s still wanting to wait on moderation. I may have to wait on it, sorry to be so difficult
If you have an alt Google account you can share it on Google drive to “anyone with the link.” Make sure you don’t use an account you mind being public on the forum. A dropbox link with the text could also work.
