Hello, I set up an account for my son for xmas, bought TWW and boosted a character, he levelled from 70-80 in timewalking dungeons, got to dornogal and cant fly on dragonriding mounts. I researched this and went back and did the quests in the Dragon Isles to unlock dragon riding, I have been looking though these forums, wowhead, and even reddit, and I cant figure out what I am missing.
Any help is a appreciated
Just to ask, did he do the intro to TWW in the new region? The battle of the crash doesn’t allow flying on someone’s first play through. They’d need to fend off the army there when they’d be allow to fly.

Does he have it set to Steady Flight instead of Skyriding? You have to get an achievement to unlock Steady Flight in TWW zones.
Can he Steady Flight/Slyride in other zones?
Edit: There should be a buff on your screen that states whether or not you are in Steady or Skyriding mode. There’s a spell in the General Spellbook that allows you to swap between, it’s in the Skyriding master skill “button”.

Unfortunately he will need to follow the campaign to unlock the switch flying ability in Khaz Algar. However, once he’s unlocked it on one character, any alts he makes will be able to use it as soon as they hit KA.
I think its a real disincentive for new players who are often kids/spouses that haven’t played before and sky riding is too far out of their comfort zone while they are getting their heads around everything else. I think it will be changed in the future but this is the way it is currently.

Skyriding really sucks and is a disincentive to continue with WOW after leveling up to 79. I cannot finish the Stone Tracing Quest because getting the third Golem with Skyriding is nearly impossible. Com’on Blizzard fix the game! Someone at lvl 79 should not have to deal with crappy Skyriding!
There’s nothing to fix, it’s working as intended.
What you want is to suggest a change, which will only gain traction in the Community forums such as General Discussion, or via the in-game suggestion tool via the Support menu.

Not sure how it’s “nearly impossible”, but it’s a good thing they included a rope to pull yourself up there.
