Hello there, I was looking to try the PTR build to bug test some stuff, and when I went to create an account in my Account Management it pops up with a message saying “This account can’t be created.”
Do you need an active sub to be able to create a PTR account?
Yes, it’s usually standard that all forms of the game require game time to access. A subscription is usually required, though the ability to log in with out one was a bug in the past.
Try logging into the app launcher, then look under the account drop-down, see if you have a development account already.

I see nothing that says Development account.
If you don’t already have a PTR license (I’m not sure what happens if you try to access an existing one after an active license has lapsed) and didn’t have an active retail license when the activity “snapshot” was taken for this cycle, you won’t be able to create a new PTR license.

Yes, you’d need an active account to be able to participate on the PTR, Dardillien.
There is a note on the Support Article on creating/accessing the PTR.
Note : World of Warcraft PTR realms are only available to players who have a full World of Warcraft account.
