Unable to activate WoW Token?

Hi. In the past I have been able to reactivate my sub with a wow token. However, it will not let me do so even though I have many WoW tokens in my bag on my character.

Is there a way to activate these? Thanks.

If you haven’t had actual paid game time for 2 years, you have to do that before you can activate any more tokens for it.

Did u buy the token thru the AH or the store.

I have recently had an active sub, this month actually it was paid for with real life moneys. I just have not redeemed the tokens as I forgot.

I bought the tokens off the AH.

I would try a full UI reset not the same as disabling or uninstalling the addons.

Oh, sorry maybe I wasn’t clear.

My current sub ended today, and I forgot to use the tokens. I am unable to redeem them. The last time I had a WoW Token I was able to use it several days after my sub had expired directly from the Character Select menu, it is not letting me do this.

If the tokens are on a WoW Classic account, no. You have to redeem them while you still have active game time on a retail game license.

Well that is a horrendously pointless and arbitrary differentiation in how the wow token works.

Today I Learned.

" I Want Game Time or Battle.net Balance

To purchase a WoW Token for Game Time or Battle.net Balance, select WoW Token while browsing the in-game Auction House. Once you click Buyout and confirm your purchase, your WoW Token will be mailed to you.

After you’ve purchased a Token from the Auction House, right-click the item in your inventory to open the Redemption window. You can choose to redeem your Token for 30 days of Game Time or $15 of Battle.net Balance. If you are at or near the [Battle.net Balance cap] , you will not be able to redeem a Token for Battle.net Balance.

If you’ve run out of Game Time but you have a Token in a character’s inventory, you’ll be able to use the WoW Token from the character select screen and add Game Time to any WoW game account on your Battle.net Account. If your Game Time has expired, you can purchase and consume a WoW Token directly from the character select screen. Each character on the selected realm will contribute gold to the price of buying the WoW Token, including gold in characters’ mailboxes."

They kinda make it confusing at first to be honest with you

I mean they go out in details because people have questions about it, but it’s very simple:

  • If you want gametime, buy it through the ingame AH at the special WoW Token tab.

  • If you want gold, buy it through the ingame shop and then sell it at the special WoW token tab.

Edit: This is for retail tokens.

I bought it from the AH for game time.

It says that I can redeem it from the character screen, and I have done so in the past, but now it doesn’t let me.

The WoW Tokens I see are on Cataclysm Classic, Mitsunori. Because of the way access to Classic and Classic Era works, WoW Token cannot currently be activated from that screen.

All of the WoW Tokens you have had before these have been for Modern World of Warcraft. You can activate those from the character selection screen, not any purchased in Classic, sorry. In order to activate the ones on your Cataclysm Classic characters you will need some game time on the license.

Well then, I bid thee adieu.

If you haven’t claimed the one day of complimentary game time that was recently awarded for the extended downtime on July 23rd, you should be able to use that.

How would one go about doing that?

Edit: Found it! It was the “Gift” thing that kept popping up, however it has never actually loaded anything when I click to open the gift, it just shows an empty page of nothing. This time it showed the 1 day game time. What a lovely coincidence, thank you!

Took my gift page 20 seconds or so to populate. Sometimes we just need to be patient.
