Tyrande: Should Blizzard Go There Or Just Cut Their Losses

Source?

I see more whining about story here in these forums, but in game, I don’t see anywhere near as much complaining about the story.

Also, cite for Majority?

You say this a lot.

Blizzard will never show the Alliance getting an unqualified victory over the Horde. Watching over the years, it has become clear that Blizzard has decided they will never, under any circumstances, show either of the following:

  1. The Alliance doing anything morally questionable.

  2. The Horde losing a fair fight.

Any time #1 has happened, it was in the Horde story where Alliance couldn’t see it, or was retconned or ignored. Any time #2 has happened, it was caused by some trickery, or was on a mission table ortherwise where the Horde couldn’t see it.

Elune is a god of war so… she would start something. I don’t get why people hate this expansion. I think WoD had a worse endgame.

No source. Just my opinion based on both in-game and out-of-game conversations. I did say “it seems”… I could be wrong. Don’t think I am, but could be.

Are you happy with the BFA story? If so, tell me why… I personally think it’s been awful to this point. Like seriously pathetically bad.

I happen to like the faction conflict as it has always been the main connector between all the games and the game is literally founded on that idea.
I like the expanded lore of the different races who each have their own issues politically and geographically.
Zul and his people I thought were rather interesting, G’huun has a lot of lore behind it and how Titan/Old Gods interact with one another.
Garok Tul (think misspelled) is an extremely interesting character as he is essentially a ruler of his own realm of Death.

There’s a lot of lore there.

Outside of your obvious disdain for the burning of the tree, your dislike of Sylvanas and her being propped up as a character and your belief that they’ve lore wise neutered the Alliance, what, story wise, is bad in Bfa?

Blizz has written themselves into a corner when it comes to Tyrande and Malfurion. Both are pretty much super gods. How do you write two factions when one has so many god like characters in it? The answer is you can’t, which Blizz has shown they can’t do time and time again.

I’d fully expect Tyrande and Malfurion to die off to make room for a lesser Nightelf like Maiev, Jarod or Shandris to take the mantle of Night Elf leader. Which honestly, I’d be okay with. I’d much rather them get rid of Tyrande and Malfurion than continue to butcher them every time they get screen time.

Actually this isn’t the case and hasn’t been for a while.
Their power is entirely connected to the tree and world around them by and large, with Malfurion growing weaker over the years as his connection to both tree and dream isn’t what it used to be.

Tyrande “now” has godlike powers but prior, she isn’t anything special.

I actually like Sylvanas. Obviously the writing for her in the Reckoning cutscene almost made me throw up in my mouth a little bit, but up to that point, I’ve been fine with what she’s done from a strict story point of view. She exterminated her enemies like dogs.

Anyway to your question - it’s easier to name what was good. The Jaina/Katherine rekindling quest arc was very good. The Drustvar questline was also very good. That’s pretty much it, honestly. The answer to your question is: “everything but those.”

I didn’t care for their reconnecting, but I like how it highlighted more of the death realm.
Drustvar I thought was amazing, I love Zuldazar as well so far. Had to make a horde alt to experience their side of the expansion, but so far, it’s pulled my attention really fast in comparison to Boralus and the Storm area.

Yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Horde stuff was good. The nature of my criticisms of BFA are heavily from an Alliance perspective. Haven’t really played a Horde character since WoD.

That bulluar guy talks too damn much, that being said: screw him and his theories.

Yeah, that’s why I made a Horde.
Been alliance since 2004.
Needed to see what was going on over there.

Even if this is true, a weakened Malfurion is still stronger than any leader the Horde has except for plot armor Sylvanas. He was at one point one of the most powerful mortals on the planet. Yet even before Sylvanas destroys the tree he seemed to act like a level 1 druid.

That seems like a lot of hate for a generally alright guy.

At one time.
He hasn’t had that level of power since they locked up Illidan.

I like him, but damn does he misquote things a lot and try to prop himself up as the lore god of WoW, when everyone knows that’s Nobbel lol

Be careful what you ask for. When a faction does horrid things that goes against your characters morals then it feels bad. If I as champion of the horde had any say . Darnassus would still be hereor my character and many who feel like me would be dead and either way a massive horde civil war

Point is, he still has more power than your average horde leader. It just seems like Blizz is scared to show that so they write him in ways that just seem idiotic. (granted everything so far has been idiotic, but none more so than the Night Elf story) It would make sense they want to get rid of him to make story telling easier.

All I hope is that Sylvannas is made a loot pinata before Tyrande is. Because it’s at least SOME measure of decency after having shat all over the night elves this expansion, and I doubt Tyrande is going to end up living after all this foreshadowy setup. I’m really not looking forward to that day.
