I’m pretty sure the implication in the quest is that the amalgamate souls are the ones you save.

Wouldn’t be surprised if this isn’t the case. I mean, Blizzard has spent all of BFA kicking the Night Elves into the dirt, seems like the logical conclusion is to have all their souls obliterated. Bet after we do that we immediately save Horde souls to who are still able to be saved(probably Horde soldiers who have murdered innocent Alliance) because that’s the only other way to rub salt in the wounds.

no the amalgamation is killed obliterating the souls bound within it and these two nightelf sentinels are saved

so that’s dozens potentially hundreds of souls obliterated vs two saved, aka business as usual for Tyrande: the worst faction leader by far.

Tyrande is found in a room full of Night Elf souls, but these are amalgamated and used to torment Tyrande. After we defeat the amalgamation, Shandris tells Tyrande to trust her, as she saw us saving souls from the Maw. Tyrande disappears into Torghast, as we collect the souls into our Soulkeeper crystal to lead them to safety.

We release the saved Night Elf souls in Ardenweald, and as you can see here, it was a lot more than two Night Elf sentinels.

You save a lot more than “2” souls, but the souls in the amalgam are permanently destroyed as you fight them off.

As you can see, there is an animation where souls were twisted in to the amalgam and there’s no animation for them getting freed after defeating it. Also, Tyrande mentions oblivion as a kinder fate.

There’s no animation for them dispersing, but there’s also not much in the ways of other souls past the two chained sentinels - I’m fairly certain the implication is that the souls eventually released to Ardenweald were those in the amalgamation.

For revenge plots they should check on Ghost of Tsushima. But apparantly they gonna pull The last of us and force tyrande to forgive everyone eventually.

I like how this dude is still tryna pin Teldrassil’s burning on Tyrande’s decision to leave with Malfurion, when we know for a fact it was gonna burn regardless since the point of it was never about helping the Horde.
