Today, I’m forming a group for a 19. We are waiting around for a tank for quite a while, about 30 minutes. eventually people leave.
I think maybe I’m going to take a break or do something else, so I delist the group
Then I get a message “how do you not want an priest lol”
I reply and I get a message I’ve been blacklisted
I guess someone had signed up right as I delist the group.
Eventually after about 2 hours of listing the keys I finally have a group that has at least timed 1 level below it for a few runs, and then people in the key start fighting. Thankfully, at least we did complete this one but the fighting seemed to cause a wipe on the last boss
Why is it that pugging keys is getting $#*$@ on all sides? you put intense effort in, and it fails, or nothing happens, or people get super angry.
It’s really hard to imagine world of warcraft being successful with the constant stream of frustration it presents – much of it completely out of your control
Every time I come back to WoW I stick around for less and less time due to stuff like this lol.
Far too much effort to play the game, and mentally draining. After a few weeks of playing I just realize I want to be nothing like these toxic people that play the game and I just take a few weeks or months off.
Game is designed in a way where toxicity runs wild, and the amount of mentally unstable people playing this game is astronomical
People love to put others on ignore if they get declined from a group. Now obviously that’s not what happened here since you delisted. But if you happen to be a fotm meta class like priest and you perceive anything as a slight insult, you’re gonna feel entitled enough to simply permanently ignore the “offender” as your revenge punishment. Augvokers were probably doing it in spades before they got nerfed.
what you described is why the sub numbers are so low in 2023. it’s to draining unless you got a set group of friends to do stuff with. people ain’t got time for this crap except the few silly ones like us left.
Yeah, I wouldn’t get too upset about it. The people that are toxic are usually not great players, their confidence is mainly within their ego and attitude.
Reminds me of a time I was posting an 18 key on my aug and I had 2 dps spots open. I put in the note I only was looking for a single dps, since I had a friend coming.
A few dps signed up in pairs, obviously not reading the note. They got SUPER upset I was declining them, saying I was one of those elitist jerks who only took FOTM classes. I tried to explain to them that I had a friend coming and didn’t need two dps, but alas, they would rather I just screw the friend and take them.
When I played during Legion I was really lucky. I landed in an awesome guild run by a wife and her husband. She was the guild master and he was the raid leader. We ended up doing keys together. If he was available he’d tank and she’d dps, but if he was working she’d tank. I’d always heal. We had one other guy from the guild that would always DPS. We’d either fill the remaining slots with guildies or pugs, didn’t matter. I always did keys with the same 2-3 people. It was awesome.
Now, I’m in a guild where I’m always being left out. It sucks.

Lol, I couldn’t agree more. Someone straight up rage quit our 10v10 last night because they thought 1 person was underperforming. I played 2v2s with them and we kicked butt. I could write a book about my M+ experiences.
I try to avoid most of the current expansion, and focus on doing things I wasn’t able to complete in previous expansions. There’s a lot of internet rabies rampant in this game, and it’s highly contagious, and to protect my peace I minimize my contact with it. Folks are MAD.
How do you design the game around players’ personal issues and how those issues are expressed in-game? Without being overly heavy handed with moderation, ofc.
Toxicity is part of human nature, unfortunately. We’re our own worst enemies, and we’ll eventually be our own undoing.
unfortunately that’s one of the worst points to put together a group. for the most part, competent players are running 20s and above, or farming 16-17s for stuff. 19 is a dead zone. not that that makes it any less frustrating. sorry you had that experience.
