Alchemy experimentation made the profession absolutely AWFUL to level up in Dragonflight, so why is this nonsense still a thing in TWW!? Sure, you can target things based on what herbs you sacrifice, but 80% of the time you explode anyway so what’s the point?? And if you DON’T explode you almost never discover a new recipe anyway.
Obtaining recipes through RNG on top of RNG is not fun or engaging in any way, it’s pure frustration and nothing more. In DF there was at least Liquid Courage to remove the explosion debuff, but unless I’m missing something there doesn’t seem to be an equivalent of that in TWW.
Edit: I just discovered the hard way that even the careful, “Meticulous” experiment, which has a 24 hour cooldown, can explode

The TWW equivalent of Liquid Courage is Formulated Courage.
8 Mycobloom, 4 Blessing Blossom, 1 Gilded Vial. I haven’t gotten to it yet myself, but the tooltip implies it lets you experiment for 10 minutes regardless of failure.

Pretty sure I’ve thrown away a few hundred herbs and only gotten two recipes out of the deal. Actually infuriating.

Dreadful choice to make it like this…

you forgot to put that its gated behind alchemical mastery 30. Stop producing half made information.

And even with that, you are still throwing away a metric TON of resources just to learn one or two recipes. I watched a guy explode like 10 times in a row just the other day.
While any other profession just learns their stuff from the trainer…

Lets be real engineering can buy a boat load of old Serevite bolts to scrap without a cooldown
This needs to be dialed down by like 90%; its absolutely obnoxious. I wasted my daily craft twice and wild experimentations have blown up in my face 5-6 times in a row.

I’ve waisted practically hundreds of mats experimenting and i’ve exploded like 8 times in a row. Including my meticulous experimentation which absolutely should not explode. Blizz seriously you need to address this and compensate people that have been having this issue. Lots of wasted time and gold on this through no fault of the players.

This was a horrible system in DF and they made it even worse in TWW. I did 8 experiments today, 5 failed. Of the 3 that succeeded, only one gave me an actual recipe. So even success can be a form of failure.

1000000000% this is the worst profession in the game but the most required. Something needs to be done. I’ve been 100/100 skill and still fail all experiments and can’t learn anything new. yet I was able to learn 99% of engineering in less than an hour.

Have you tried Jewel Crafting?
yeah maxed it out on my monk in a few hours not too difficult. Pretty easy to do when you can buy the recipes needed to level it. no RNG needed to learn something new.

I think it’s much harder to level than Alchemy unless you are willing to spend lots of Gold on the AH levelling it.

much easier, in fact I leveled a druid from 70-80 with mining and herbing and was set up for mats. not even in the same realm
If you had the mats then Alchemy is easy to level. Much easier than Jewel Crafting.
I am 100/100 skill in alchemy, however I am still missing 80% of the craft able items. the issue isn’t leveling it, but getting the recipes. unlike any other profession it is 100% RNG based if you get a new recipe where as in jewelcrafting you just learn them via the trainer. alchemy you have to experiment and that isn’t guaranteed to give you a new one. the issue is not leveling the skill but getting all the recipes.

I think you are missing the difference. There are TWO recipes for alchemy on the trainer after that you are forced into the experimentation system. Were even a successful attempt can result in not learning a damn thing…
