According to a spoiler being circulated on WoW Twitter, Thrall is still grappling with his connection to the Elements.
I cant help but think the current Blizz team has no idea how to get Shaman/Elements into the story.
Thrall is on the art being released, he was in the trailer, he got his connection back in Torghast iirc, but now hes steuggling again?
The cosmological chart, and the lack of a home for the elements has screwed this class, and i really wish the development team would just say theyre out of ideas for the shaman.
- The hero talents were poorly received.
- Weāve had one pass on hero talents while other classes are on their third?
- Totems are a bygone relic
- We have 2/3 specs with no raid buff
- Elemental is basically Lava Burst only
- Enhancement has more buttons than the console of a 747
- All shaman use ghost wolf while all Paladins get class specific mounts
- Horde Shaman have Bloodlust while Alliance shaman have Heroism, what other spell in the game has that distinction? What is the spell? Why isnt there a consistent theme?
- Our Self-res is considered a defensive by the Dev teamā¦what?
- We still cant use swords
- You gave HeroLust to 2 other class - including Mage who needed nothing else
- You gave humans our astral recall
When will Shaman get anything in this stupid game ive given too much money? Its not rhetorical. WHEN DO WE GET ANYTHING?

It is wild that we just had an expansion revolving almost entirely around the elements as antagonists and had basically zero shaman content or involvement with the story.
Like, did they even explain why the new Firelord decided to go villain mode besides āthat dragon likes fire and so do I, letās team up!ā? Because if so I missed it completely.

Itās definitely sad. Shaman, Druid, and Paladin shared the spotlight for a while as the most lore important classes, each representing Horde Lore, Kaldorei Lore, and Alliance lore respectively, but as Blizzard has destroyed faction identity so too have they forgotten Shaman and Paladin lore in favor of more Druid lore.
Yes, Druid is the most popular class. No, you canāt have make Druids the most important class three expansions in a row. Like my guy Druid arguably got more screen time than DK in Shadowland the DK expansion and more screen time than Shaman in DF the Shaman expansion itās crazy.
Heck even in Legion Druid got a whole zone and raid dedicated to them.

After Thrall returns in BfA, it no longer makes sense what heās there for, and Shadowlands in particular ruined him. Somehow itās supposed to be important and relevant, but then again itās not. I want another Orc, not that loser Thrall

I mained DK in SL because I expected some lore, Easter eggs, and maybe even a robust class.
Instead unholy got slapped down in T1 while boomkins and spriest got away with murder in pve. Frost was a jumbled mess. Blood didnāt greatly benefit from the covenant abilities. By the time the korthia patch dropped, I was too invested to swap.
Iām not surprised they didnāt throw shamans a bone this xpac.

same i was under the assumption that they had it we was going to be called something but maw walkers but i think that was scraped
Thereās so much they couldāve done with the Primalists.
Especially in using them to bring forth other races into shamanisms arms.
The thing that irritates me the most with neglect to shaman lore though ā is the spirituality side ā¦
- In WoW thereās 5 elements: Fire, Earth, Wind, Water and Spirit
- Heck, the prequel book to Shadowlands written by Madeleine Roux named āShadows Risingā ā had references to how the shamans could detect an unrest with the spirits etc and how the shaman were gathering to help sort it out ā¦ That lead absolutely NO WHERE!! ā¦ The damn DEATH KNIGHTS were more āspirit guidesā in the shadowlands than shaman were
The shaman being depicted as either spirit guides, highly spiritual in general and having significant roles in the afterlife?
RETCONNED
By all intents & purposes with Shadowlands, due to such neglect alone.
Aside from all that however, thereās also the elemental spirits themselves ā Itād be cool to get some more in depth lore with them, or even something like how thereās an elemental plane that wasnāt created by the titans to which their spirits can go - and shaman souls too, should they prove worthy.

Cool so the writers still canāt come up with anything new for him
At that point just get a different character

So, the single horde characters entire purpose is to be useless?
Yep, this is blizzard writing

They made Thrall boring and uninteresting so many years ago. Itās like so many characters now that serve no real purpose aside from delivering lines.

It is kind of funny that this expac is literally about going inside the earth and they apparently canāt find a way to tie that into shamanism. This is probably the most Shaman-based concept for an expac since cataclysm.
W/R/T Thrall specifically, I think heās a hard character to write for. Garrosh and Sylvanas did a real number on him, because so much of his identity was based around being this wise, peaceful leader who was going to lead the Orcs into a better era, and then Blizzard just crapped all over that having him constantly enable and turn a blind eye to some of the worst things the Horde has ever done. Itās hard for him to get out of that shadow and I think constantly going back to the āthe elements donāt believe in me anymoreā well is basically Blizzard trying to make that a plot point. Honestly he should probably just die or retire for good and they move on to a different character without the baggage, but I suspect Metzen doesnāt want to do that because Thrall is his favorite.
Bro, this most recent raid was about druids and regrowing a life tree and they chose to give war/pally/dk the legendary instead of druid who was basically the whole focus of that raid.
Dont try to look for logic when it comes to blizzard rofl.
To be fair the Druids dodged a bullet there.

Fair haha, just the missed opportunity was crazy.
Per wowpedia about Smolderon:
When the Cult of Ragnaros attempted to revive Ragnaros in Sulfuron Keep, Smolderon was missing. A worried Anvil-Thane Thurgaden was even wondering where Smolderon was, to which the cultās apparent leader High Justice Grimstone only replied āAll in due time.ā
Thatās not really an explanation.
He went missing in BfA. Him being evil in Amdrassil solved the mystery. Cult of Ragnaros brainwashed him probably
Blood dk was s tier in s3/s4 SLs tbh
