TWW Pathfinder: Whats the Point?

I read exactly what you wrote, which is that real flight makes quests meaningless.

So here we are back in wod, with Blizzard trying to convince players that the artists who created the tree canopy they copied and pasted across entire zones will have their feefees hurt if people aren’t forced to walk under it for an extended period of time. Or that the real point of walking on the same path killing the same valueless mobs day after day is killing those mobs, and not the quest objective at the end.

Your list of Official Blizzard Anti-Flight Talking Points™ has aged poorly.

Not as much as you think. Stealth only gets you so far, and can, and often does, fail with stronger enemies nearby or large concentrations of mobs.

Riiiiight…I can see neither of us are going to agree on this subject. And I have too much of a headache already irl to bang my head on a brick wall. I hope you have a good day.

You can go 100% of the way between point A and point B, as long as the path is continuous and you don’t get too close to mobs. It sounds like you’ve never played a stealthie.

I’m with you, OP. I love dynamic flying, but the inclusion of a pathfinder at this point is just baffling. It feels arbitrary, if not down right mean considering he acknowledged the accessibility issues for some people.

Sounds like ur bad at stealth to me.

if it gives a mount… im okay with it lol

I wouldnt expect one considering df pathfinder was 10 ach points or something xd

that’s a good point. it’s kind of tone deaf of blizz to give a nod to accessbility, but then lock it behind an achievement, all the while non-accessible flying is available from the start.

Show me someone who claims to be perfect at Stealth who has never had incidents of mobs dropping their stealth, and I will show you a liar.

Dynamic flight is great until you need to pause or check your quest log or try to find a herb on top of an obstacle.

I use both in unison and will continue to do so.

Pathfinder sounds rather organic, no rep grind required.
Do the campaign quests and explore. Which I do anyways.

Oh and when my hands are hurting I will likely just use static flight.

Arthritis? I have it in my right hand. And nerve damage in both. So I get the hands hurting thing. It’s usually my sign to take a break and go RP.

You can make up any justification you want. I usually travel in stealth and walk past all the mobs. If you haven’t played a stealthie since wod, well, I started at the end of mop, so I guess I missed the difficulty you put yourself through.

They need to take the whole concept of pathfinder, crumple it up, and throw it away.

It was terrible from the start and has never gotten better.

Throw it away

This just spits in the face of everyone that prefers regular flying. They’ve had it for years and all the sudden it’s now locked.

Meanwhile everyone who likes dynamic gets to fly from the start. Why is one locked and the other not?

I’m probably showing my age a bit but I preferred Wrath style flying. Just get close to level max and buy it. Maybe buy it earlier for alts. No headache, no stringing you along for gameplay metrics.

same. dynamic flight is going to ruin zone design moving forward. they’re all going to be just as empty and spread out and lonely as the Dragon Isles. plus i actually liked being forced to first experience new zones on ground mounts. pretty much everything in this game is going the wrong direction for my preferences.

This is their way of telling us the story will be so bad that it needs an artificial incentive for anyone to complete it at all. You heard it here first. :upside_down_face:

I don’t have an answer for this at the moment, but creating more engaging rewards from the content they want the playerbase to complete that lead to pathfinder might be a better solution.

In the mean time, discriminating against a minority is never an acceptable solution. If they’re worried that their content is going to be “cheesed” by hovering, then they need to be coming up with more creative solutions that don’t involve discrimination. Even if the percentage of the playerbase that prefer static flight for accessibility reasons is only 0.05% than that’s large enough to mean they need a better solution.

They tried limiting flying, people complained. The tried limiting the advantage of flying by adding in more air enemies, people complained. They tried adding in a flying method that requires effort, people complained. What else is there?

They’re petty and still mad that there was enough backlash that they had to keep flying in the game in WoD.
