Real question is what’s the point with static flying when we have dynamic? Aside from AFK hovering.
Actually dynamic flying is the most like flying. How many times have you seen a bird hovering in the air in the same spot without moving?

that’s how flying works. this is literally how birds and airplaines work, and how dragons would work, if they were real.
press skyward ascent to gain altitude. Maintain thrill of the skies. Press skyward ascent again when your vigor recharges from thrill of the skies. You’re only running out of vigor if you’re mismanaging it or stopping and starting a lot.

Actually if dragons was real it had been sceintifically theorized they cannot fly due to:
Weight
Organ composition
Most likely would self combust or kill themselves from overheating their own body with their ability to breath fire.

Well that is just some of it they also lack;
Feathers
Ability to have organs to store air to hold themselves up (kinda did that last post)
Lack of tail aerodynamics (the reason why birds has tail feathers)
Also if they where able to fly, the launch wouldn’t be so slow vua the sheer muscle masd they have. I mean have you seen a bird launch themselves from the ground? They are fast buggers.
And yes larger birds can stay in one location in the air if they can find an updraft. Some do to hunt for prey. Abiat move slowly while keeping updrift.

Or how vigor is not enough to give the dragon the strength to fly, they would need lot’s and lot’s of calories to eat.

Flying around the questing area actually doing the quests. Flying short distances. God forbid, flying around and just enjoying the zone.

This is your opinion, which an unknown number of other people share. But there are also those who take the other stance.
When Blizzard wants players to stop doing one type of content and do a different type instead, they will nerf, adjust rewards, and sometimes make other changes. We have seen this happen many times over the years. You didn’t notice that last expansion’s rewards got nerfed into the ground at the start of every new expansion?
Prime example: Zaralek Caverns elites. The content now is essentially unplayable. But I’m sure Blizzard appreciates your effort to cover for them.
The point of normal flying is to keep players who have a variety of difficulties with dragonriding paying for the development of your content.

Look, I don’t mind that you prefer static flight, to each his own. But what is this insistence on claiming dynamic flying isn’t flying, or that it’s unpopular?

Interactive flying on dragons is alien… sure…
But it is entertaining or usable to plenty of people.
