Gathered from various dev interviews over the last 6 months. They haven’t talked about it a lot but they’ve stressed there’s no permanent or long term advantages to the head start. You won’t be able to tell who started early by the end of the first week.
If you believe that then you probably are in for a rude awakening when TWW launches. And the goblins upcharge on all mats and profession services.
Personally? I have my popcorn ready and my surfboards to ride the waves
Literally just the feeling of being included in the launch of an expansion. It’s special. You only get it once.
Having to sit there, for 3 days, while half your friends and guild get to experience the new zones and level up? That could be a really crappy or depressing feeling, depending on the person.
Competition will bring down the prices fast. By the time of the full release, the prices will likely have dropped considerably.
A ton of things have splitten the playerbase up. Does not mean it is a good or bad idea.
Earliest one I remember was the introduction of Blood Elves on Horde back in The Burning Crusade. Does that mean it is a bad idea now?
… yes. Still a bad idea LOL
You are assuming that but that isn’t how it works at the start. It will take at least a month…
Nobody would be bickering if they didn’t have this early access. That’s the difference.
I imagine if this is super important to a player, they’d find a way to buy the epic edition. Unfortunately, the option for early access is probably going to be a feature going forward.
Only if you’re a Void Elf with Blood Elf customizations (the hair is modified, but it’s the same style). It’s a non-issue that gets blown way out of proportion because of greed.
Also, love the name!
People bicker about everything. Early access, customizations, player housing, even down to the expansions itself.
You do the difference between the forums and the entire community: The forums is a tiny minority compared to the entire community.
But they didn’t have to before. This extra cost is literally entirely arbitrary and is being forced onto the player who does want that launch day experience.
The extra cost also comes with more than just early access.
What, 1000 tenders total, 30 days game time, a pet with extra colours to collect, a toy, a hearthstone toy, transmogs appearances… All what, an extra $30AUD from the heroic edition?
In otherwords, you not only paying for 3 days of early access to the expansion.
This expansion it’ll be just leveling and normals, but next it’ll be full prog very likely. And then from there on out expansions will be $110+ bucks each with no cheaper option.
The cost difference between heroic+30 days of time and epic version is less than $10.
I like the thematic mount, tenders, beta access to learn the map and dungeons at a leisurely pace. I figure EA itself cost about $3.
The majority of the value in the epic edition. The EA is just a bonus tbh. Like a buy 3 get 1 free sale.
Getting a jump start on alts and having a sizeable gathering operation going on to fuel the crafting once the big boys are unlocked.
Yeah it is unfair that my friend makes more money than me. How dare he spend it on something that brings him joy.
Yeah. We are estimating will be able to make around 75million gold just from the EA headstart alone
Man, my friend sucks cause he can afford concert tickets and I can’t. He should be punished.
