I’m already level 30 with 200 engineering on Whitemane, would rather not have to reroll the same character over again but my more casual friends can’t deal with the insane queues. Please add free transfers soon or even paid transfer so we have some way to play with our friends but also keep our hard-earned characters!
I rerolled when I realized whitemane was a nightmare. And now I’m on a server whose longest queue I’ve sat in was about an hour. And that’s fine by me. I’d rather play and have fun than sit in a queue for stubborn reasons. All my friends and old guildies are all spread out across different servers and it doesn’t bother me. I’ve found a new guild, made more friends than I have in years on retail, and if I want to play with my buddies we will all start on a new realm together. Why people would rather sit in a queue is beyond me.
simple solution to this whole mess (not sure why this was never thought of), just allow us to pick our characters from the login server and select any realm that isnt full. That way you can have less realms and everyone can join their buddies and guildmates on any realm.
Hazzikostas: Just raising the realm caps without any additional tech, at some point you run into not just client-server performance issues but raw gameplay issues, in terms of contention over finite spawn points in a world where mobs tap to the first person who hits them.
When you have 800 people in Northshire Abbey, 2,000 people in Northshire Abbey if you can imagine that, that’s a miserable experience for everybody all around. So those are the problems we’re trying to avoid.
You’re not special and you don’t get to just make limitations magically disappear because you’re personally offended by them.
Move to another server or sit in a queue. If your “friends” were such and they knew you weren’t able to get in then they would move for you.
Why do your friends and guild members continue to play on a server without you? They clearly don’t care if you are stuck in a queue and play without you…
No they are not just numbers when it comes to realm pop, they can’t just keep uping the number of players because it was physically become unstable. What you are not understanding is a server is a physical piece of hardware that has limitations.
It has nothing to do about being stubborn. I changed servers 3 time before launch,I have 25 people with me. We aren’t going to delete our game progress because blizzard was ‘stubborn’ and didn’t see fit to have more realms at launch.
It doesn’t hurt you if this happens, why do you side with a corporation over other customers when this would benefit you as well?
Or…choose a low pop realm to play with friends until the queues drop off and you can go back to your initial server? If “I want to play with my friends” is the goal, it’s better than not playing with them at all.
Alot of people I feel are not use to being told they can’t have there cake and eat it too. Yes I understand you and your friends decided to play on a certain server early on, but people were giving in to the sunken cost fallacy from day one. Saying they don’t want to throw away their characters or names but this isn’t going to fix yours or anyone’s issues. The only solution going forward is either you giving in or others giving in, and of those two choices you only have control over one of them. We have no idea if or when blizzard is going to allow character transfers, if they will be free or cost money, ect.
Trust me I get it, it sucks. Day one me and my friends logged in planning to play on Stalagg. We got on shortly after launch to a 15k player queue. Some were almost in and others just joined the queue. But we decided you know what this is going to SUCK and its not going to magically get better, so we swapped to Kromcrush. Being stubborn doesn’t fix problem.
Blah blah, over the last few days everyone is using straw men for arguments. Speak for yourself, not some mysterious other 25 people. Listen, life isnt fair. You need to lick your wounds and move on. Many other people have. If you have honest friends that care you guys will gravitate to another place and will suck it up and endure. If not then you guys are just being stubborn. Also, quit with the political labeling, it makes you look stupid.
My only issue with this is I’ve done this now three times. I’m over chasing the next “we strongly recommend you go here” flavor of the day. I encourage you to allow free transfers to spread the population around and even up the servers.
