Twist: A 3rd Faction of Neutrality

I’m usually the first to push for a race/class/faction unlock. Now, I feel like we need a 3rd faction, but not an external one. So Blizzard, here is my suggestion and do with it as you will.

Our new neutral faction would be Citizens of Azeroth. When creating a character, or paying to faction change, the player will choose to operate in complete neutrality of the Alliance and the Horde. In PvP, they will choose a faction to fight for, but when not flagged, or leaving PvP, they are returned as Neutral.

This means a Tauren Druid who is Neutral could visit any Horde or Alliance city or town. The same could be said for a Human Paladin walking into a Horde capital or town. Unless they are flagged for PvP, they will not be treated as a member of the opposite faction.

This 3rd and very neutral faction could be added to any guild, raid group, etc and would speak Common unless they specifically choose a native faction race’s language. It could enhance RP and open group content up by leaps and bounds.

Just an idea I was mulling over today.

This is just a long winded remove the faction barrier suggestion.

What would be the point to being on a faction?

Why would Stormwind allow in an orc regardless?

These characters would have to be barred from doing just about any quest before shadowlands as well.

Outside of RP purposes and what Akston said where this would just be faction walls being torn down (which should still happen don’t get me wrong), this would also basically be instantly the best choice for anyone thinking of doing content, since now you have access to all content, not just your faction’s content, like for example you’d be able to construct both Garrisons in WoD

There already is a third neutral faction. It is called “Play as Pandaren and never join a faction.”

WoW is firmly divided into two factions for gameplay and story reasons. The most one could ask for is more Sanctuary capitals/hubs and more vendors that sell Elixir of Tongues.

Apparently there is one such vendor in the Undermine even:

But otherwise… no. A third neutral faction that players can join wouldn’t really serve any function whatsoever as the game isn’t built with that in mind.

The issue with a third faction is that we’re looking at the better part of 20 years of content that is based on the existance of factions; you’d need to either shoe horn in a stupid amount of content into said content or accept that this “third faction” is locked out of everything Pre-shadowlands.

Make it tied to cross faction guilds and make it like where old reps have hated, neutral, friendly, etc… BOOM fixed.

As you do stuff with the other faction guild it rises at the same rate as your guild rep, meaning the more you do with the opposite faction, the more they trust you up to exalted.

I kinda thought war mode off kinda already was the third faction.

And you can as a panda, but you can never leave home.

We already have 3rd faction. All the normies who play cross-faction without getting embarrassingly invested in fighting for beige vs taupe.

I want a third faction to be enemies to both Alliance and Horde.

Actually we can skip the 3rd faction thing.

Just allow all non-war-mode players to visit all Alliance / Horde cities and outposts and interact with the NPCs including the flight masters.

As for pro faction divide players who don’t want to see certain races in their cities, I suggest just using different shards for players with and without war mode enabled. This way war mode enabled players will never see players without war mode thus won’t see the “wrong” races in their cities.

…What makes a person turn neutral? A lust for money? Power? Or were they just born with a heart full of neutrality?

I wish all the anti-faction players and devs would leave and stop making this game worse.

How did we stray so far from the game’s foundation? Sad to see.

This is an alternative. If they don’t want to completely remove the barrier, they can create a compromise between the two situations. Also, the last time I checked, Thrall was able to wander through stormwind.

But what would be the benefit of not choosing the 3rd option?

You would only be limited.

Indifference to someone else’s war.

That’s just no factions with a faction transfer pricetag since the new faction would just be objectively better than being in either one of the existing options. Double the city reps, double the faction-specific mounts, getting to speak to everyone in the neutral faction or alliance (not you horde) and mixed faction queues.

Interesting, I would like to see that idea just to see how players choose. Would the new faction overshadow the other 2? As a Pandaren from a RP perspective I would certainly choose the Neutral faction. The only “restriction” I would recommend is being unable to participate in PVP BGs, Warmode? Ok, but being Neutral you shouldn’t be able to earn favor with the militaristic forces of a faction and still claim neutrality

A third Faction would require new Races to justify it’s existence, possibly an Outcast Faction that contains, Murlocs, Kobolds, Naga, etc.

This isn’t Dark Age of Camelot, you can just add in a 3rd faction because you think it is a nifty idea

Although, DAoC has way better combat, like years above combat in this game be it pve or pvp
