Blizzard should’ve stopped at Wrath and restarted the cycle there. Beyond Cata is literally just bad retail.
When 2019 Classic launched I remember people memeing about “cant wait for cata and wod classic xD” and now we have people on heavy amounts of copium because they don’t want to give up their 5+ years of investment, which is 10000% understandable by the way,
but can we just please stop pretending Cata isn’t a steaming pile of garbage, especially with how Blizzard has treated it?
Its a later expac waiting room for me. One cannot lie to oneself.
But I hope the people who look forward to firelands enjoy their time there.

Cata has been better than WOTLK.
Cata was not well received when it first come. It was always destined to be the waiting-for-Mop expac. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if we go all the way to Legion now.
I had no problem giving up my characters after 14 years of investment when I quit BfA. Most classic players did something similar. After giving up 14 years of investment it’s the height of stupidity to claim that people are playing cata because they didn’t want to give up a mere 5 year investment.

Cata is mostly a MoP waiting room for me, if I hadn’t ended up with a 10 man spot when we switched to 10 mans I doubt I would have bothered to find another raid and just gone casual till then. Part of that is I had goals going into vanilla/TBC/Wrath that I didn’t get done back in the day and now I’ve killed KT/Illidan/HLK.
T11 and 12 are good but pretty much everything else about Cata is worse than Wrath, including a contender for the worst raid in the history of WoW, DS.
love when they say stuff like this which just proves they have no clue what retail is and are just throwing around buzzwords to make it seem like they have a point
The same things to do in wotlk are the same things to do in cata
Both are raid log games.
I think Cataclysm missed the mark by not bringing in Flex raiding instead of the 10/25 model we had before, but that would have taken some additional development. Overall I still think it’s better than WotLK though.
I have mixed feelings about MoP. Challenge modes were really fun at the time and PVP was great. But I feel like CMs are going to be a pushover with modern game knowledge and PVP participation is on life support at this point. The raids were meh at best, although there were a couple of really fun encounters.
I probably wont play MoP unless they make the legendary questline account wide - I was stuck on 1-2 characters through original Cata (and onward) and I’m having fun now playing a bunch of classes I missed out on through this content.
Which wrath had better options for since 10 and 25 didn’t share a lockout.

Rare agree. Agree with OP too, but only that it’s a steaming pile of garbage because of how it was treated by devs.
To each their own. I find Cata to be vastly more interesting and enjoyable than Wrath was.
Yall just not remember Tier 7 already it seems. We were BORED OUT OF OUR MINDS by week 4, At least T11 had some prog to it.
And all achievement/pet/toy hunters been having a blast.
I didnt remember some things about Cata. Like Hunter finally became a fun class for me but they really overdid it with Death Knights, those guys always were OP as hell but they also were the tank kings while also being the easymode DPS class in Cata, unacceptable

I keep seeing a tank in certain part of my play window on a low leveler…I’d take Bramm bot. really I would. Hell I’d take the mommy bots from the later retail intro.
As someone that has played wow more than most I was kind of looking forward to cataclysm because I quit before clearing t11 on heroic originally and came back before mop but missed firelands and DS. Hopefully those two raids are good because man has it been a dumpster fire, if it wasn’t for the two legendaries for me to chase I would’ve quit already.
Yeah I don’t get that this has been probably the best phase one of any classic game.
Now granted it has gone on far too long but the content has been amazing
There isn’t much that can beat phase 1 of classic release for me. Actually all of pre bc was amazing, I played in vanilla but I was so young I never got to actually raid until karazhan.
Vanilla raids are incredibly boring especially phase one.
