Turn off Chat in Solo Shuffle and save 1000 tickets being made on this forum

I have got reasonably high rated on numerous healer toons this season and i can’t express how toxic the game mode is.

If you make a missplay, someone dies when you are healing them, the go to response nowadays is “I’m going to spam report you”

Now let me explain why this is a large issue -

Firstly - if they spam report me that can reliably get me banned nowadays and everyone knows that the ban system is easily exploitable as there are numerous videos of streamers having their stream report them to show off how easy it is to ban someone.

Second - if they are trolling, which many of them are and I respond and cuss them out because I am offended that my account from 2005 might get closed due to an erroneous report, I will be the one who gets banned, not them. It’s actually good bait and everyone knows it which is why “I am reporting you!” works so well to make people mad.

If chat was just shut off entirely and you had to rely on pings, it would put everyone on the same page, you can’t cuss people out, you just play and you ping who you want to kill. The pings are easy to use and understand.

Now - people will just tell me to shut my chat off entirely - yeah well if you are healing and can’t read what people are typing, that’s a huge problem. If everyone has chat off, we are on the same playing field.

There is a reason that in Hearthstone you can’t just message the other player and call them trash and you have pings. WOW is way more toxic than hearthstone and the same implementation should be examined.

Not how that works.

The most that might happen is you’d be squelched temporarily.

Unless there were rules broken, you may also see some ‘you were reported’ messages, but nothing will come of it.

So you realise they are asking their stream to falsely report them, wasting GM time? That latter is actually a punishable offense.

So you admit to that if you were to cuss them out, you would get banned. I don’t see a problem here.

Actually in reality, those “streamers” generate views from controversy, and quite often use deceit and lies to get people to watch. There is NO auto-bans or suspensions.

Maybe NOT do that? That right there will guarantee a silence, and a suspension down the road.

There are videos of people getting banned from being mass reported though so that can’t be true.

I was watching a stream of Payo, he killed a guy who was botting herbs/mining, that guy reported him 100s of times and both of Payo’s accounts were permanently closed live on stream.

Here is the thread about it - he never got squelched, he got banned fully.

https://www.reddit.com/r/classicwow/comments/1cdb8p9/payo_has_been_perma_banned_on_two_accounts_after/

I think the assumption the customer service rep is using is that people are reporting people for inappropriate language, but if you watch anyone on twitch who is being toxic and reporting people (Crusader) they are reporting those players for botting and poor language.

None the less -

It’s very toxic to play with people who constantly cuss you out and when you heal you get threats and cussed out all day long which is at a core, the reason for this post. - It would be nice if that was at least acknowledged instead of just calling me wrong.

If you are doing this, all it actually takes is ONE report. And it would be verifiable.

I suggest you not.

Again, those "streamers’ uses falsehoods to generate views and dupe the gullible. How did he know that the “guy” reported him 100 times? From what I seen, there is no announcement ingame “You have been reported” coming from Blizzard.

edit: that image has floating around the internet for a long time, I see it used on multiple reddit threads from different people claiming something or another.

Also, Reddit, has never been the paragon of truth.

You don’t see who reports you or how much, so that isn’t true in of itself. Along with such, you can pre-record videos on sites like Twich, so you’ve easily been watching a video he made.

Wait, so turning off just your chat is a problem but making everyone suffer because you cannot control what you type is easier? No thanks I am a grownup I can control what I do in a video game.

If someone is typing something in chat that is against the rules then report them and move on.

I never said I am cussing people out. I am saying that people try to bait you to cuss them out.

I’m not banned. I am just making a post about how I feel that the report system is toxic.

Calling me wrong and then saying you can’t be banned for mass reporting is a little frustrating because there are way too many examples of it.

Like i said - people like crusader who spam report people live on stream to get them banned, aren’t doing it by clicking the button saying inappropriate communication - they are reporting them for botting.

Will it get reversed? Probably? Payo and others report it took them 2-3 weeks and dozens of tickets, which seems bad and unfair - which at a core is why people get mad when they say they are spam reporting you.

So this is a suggestion thread, unfortunately Support doesn’t handle these.

If you want to create a suggestion to improve the report system you can do so at an appropriate non-support forum or through the ingame suggestion box.

All those “examples” are fabrications. You know? This is the internet, I show proof the Moon landing was fake, Kennedy is still Alive and Elvis is fighting Egyptian Mummies in an old folks home.

Absolutely false. You have to understand, doesn’t matter if you get reported a thousand times, if you have done nothing against the rules, then NOTHING will happen. Every report is verified by a GM, and if they find rule breaking, then they will hand out the appropriate punishments. Now, there are occasions of error and that is why the appeal process is in place, so that a different GM can verify the account action and reverse it if necessary.

Now here is the issue. If they are trolling and baiting you, just ignore, report if they break the rules. This does not give you permission to break the rules yourself.

Again, just report and move on.

So they tell you they’re reporting you, and your first instinct is to immediately respond with inappropriate language?

If you’re truly worried about the possibility of being burned at the stake, maybe try to avoid lighting that fire. :person_shrugging:

I’ve always found that the best way to find your way out of a hole is to keep digging.

Not.

Doesn’t matter if it’s bait or not. You fall for it, that means you broke the rules.

It’s not. The toxicity is coming from streamers, who often have a hidden axe to grind with Blizzard since that generates the most engagement, who don’t understand how the system works and spouts falsehoods.

There are zero examples of it.

Here you go again. People often lie on the internet. Why do streamers lie? Because people like you believe their lies, spread them far and wide, and that cause more and more people to go view their stream where they get subscriptions and donations.

Always follow the money.

So let me get this straight -

I said numerous times that I am not cussing anyone out but you keep saying I am cussing everyone out?

I said that I have got numerous toons high rated this season and see the cussing and reporting absolutely non stop. I was explaining the situation that you get in when you heal and all the toxicity you see in Shuffle.

The core of the issue is that Customer Service somehow is saying that you can’t be banned for being mass reported and you indeed can be. I have seen it happen literally live on stream and you can verify it via that thread and I don’t believe that Payo made the whole thing up and that he faked all those screen shots because it’s been proven time and time again if you spam report people it will get them banned.

He got spam reported he got banned, it took weeks to fix and that’s the core of the problem.

If a GM needs to approve every ban, then they are just auto-approving bot bans which also - is an issue.

  1. A person can get squelched if reported enough in a short enough time period. That was put in place over a decade ago to fight gold seller spam.

  2. The report system only accepts 1 report per account. Switching alts to report again won’t register another report. You literally can’t report someone hundreds of times.

  3. Abusing the report system gets an account penalized. Asmongold tried it and had his chat report him for something innocuous. He got squelched - but then got suspended for encouraging abuse of the reporting system.

It only takes a report or two for action to be taken, despite the myth that it is “mass reporting”.

Example from the other day where I blue had to correct that. Turns out the person had hardly any reports, but the ones there were had infractions in them.

When you post this:

Then the advice is always going to be “don’t do that”. If you do, you have no one to blame but yourself for breaking the rules.

You have to make a conscious choice to open your chat box, type the words in there, then hit Enter. It takes nothing to to ignore them and not type something.

You cannot. Perhaps you should listen to the actual Blizzard employee who is explaining how it works, not some random player.

I mean - I think that you are proving my point though.

You are under the assumption that someone is getting squelched or banned due to inappropriate communication.

The people who are abusing the system are doing arena, getting salty/mad and then putting in botting reports.

Botting reports if i had to guess, are handled differently than inappropriate communication.

That or people are simply using multiple accounts which is reasonable nowadays.

None the less - I dont believe payo made that up, there are tons of examples - if it’s impossible to happen there wouldn’t be so many reports of people having to put in tickets to get bans reversed.

In his case he literally showed the email and it showed some verbiage of “We got it wrong and reversed the ban”

This would indicate he was auto banned, had it reversed. Let’s be realistic - people spam report people constantly, people get banned and blizzard has to fix those issues. If people are trying to say no one has ever been banned erroneously then I am just done commenting - you are drinking too much Blizzard kool-aid.
