I find it enjoyable to gather while doing other activities. One of the reasons I disliked Draenor’s design was because it ruined that joy.
But we can already gather while doing other activities so this would not make any difference to that.
The difference you are asking for is to optimize the gathering professions, regardless if they are done in conjunction with other activities or not.
The whole ‘time respected’ thing is just an excuse players use to request activities be make optimal so they don’t have to put in actual time, effort and energy in to earn rewards.
And you can dress it up any way you want, but that is what this request about: ruining another RP feature to get rewards faster and easier.
But I wouldn’t worry about it. At the rate Blizzard is discarding any care for immersion, RP or lore for flexibility to support their e-sports, soon you will be able to do all the professions, gathering and crafting, on one character as well as be all the classes. Or maybe they will just downsize and streamline the whole lot and more will go the way of archeology.
Regardless, I hope all the people pushing for these types of changes will be happy with their flavorless optimized homogenized game.
Granted it is what some folks do for a living, but i doubt they are all confined to that being THE only things they can do, lol.
Id like to see more of an ESO style professions set up, personally.
if Im going to play WoW instead of ESO, stop making it feel like this game is trapped in 2005.
The biggest thing I miss about ESO and GW2 when playing WoW is gathering. It is such a shame that gathering professions and crafting professions take up the same slot. In ESO every char can level every profession. In GW2 every char has all 3 gathering professions by default and can pick 2 crafting professions by default, upgradable to 4 per char with gem store upgrades. WoW is seriously lacking in this department.
Hi, bumping this again because I’ve been hearing some real good things about the new expansion and I was hoping that this (or something like this) could make the cut.
I don’t like the idea because herbalism and mining are usually reliable methods of making gold and making them secondary professions like fishing is just going to ruin that; it’s going to be WoD all over again except there won’t even be a mission table to get loads of free gold from this time
