classic era was never meant to be a copy of vanilla they added the chronoboon before tbc even came out. ALSO ITS LITERALLY PERMANENT WEVE BEEN RAIDING NAXX FOR LIKE WHAT 4 YEARS??? this was never a copy of vanilla when they surveyed about it they literally asked in the survey about qol changes. timbermaw hold raid and Kharazhan when???
What’s this? You don’t wanna keep raiding naxx over and over for years? Would have never guessed
nahhh ill never be done raid in era ive got too many alts buts having more raids to go along side with new gear to help lower performance specs would be like the best game ever
i really do wanna see the timbermaw hold raid
This is what the seasonal servers are for. Keep your hands off Classic Era!
Classic was always meant to be a close proximity to Vanilla, one of the strong drivers behind it was the “No Change” and while they did make some small changes, such as adding the chronoboon and things like the upcoming change to how pvp ranking will work, for the most part these changes are to help the lack of real population not add new functionality, the team working on these changes is also extremely small.
When these servers were spun off during the TBC launch it was clear that there wouldn’t be any real updates to them, and while I think Blizzard has moved away from the “No Change” aspect a bit, outside of changes slated for SOM2 which could be rolled into the ERA servers, its not likely any new content will be created, and for some on the ERA servers new content would not be welcomed.
Classic Era is Classic+. I have no interest in servers designed to be deleted in 12 months time. I like my toons in a persistent Azeroth with the ability for it to develop novel phases based around the Classic world in the future.
Please do not do this blizzard. Classic Era, Classic+, SoM, and Fresh should all be independent.
It harms no one to keep Classic Era how it is and introduce a new Classic+ realm that people will flock to. All well letting the few on Era’s minimal changes stay on Era
Thankfully this hypothetical debate is over a hypothetical Classic+ which Blizzard would have to develop and invest in. Versus a Classic Era minimal changes which actually exists today.
Me thinks…
- Era stays forever with minimal changes and tweaks. Closest we have to Vanilla wow. Yes, some changes but no new content.
- SoM to test out content changes in a low commitment / low investment way.
- Eventually, after many SoM’s, they introduce WoW 2 or Classic+. Same game with new content and major changes. SoM dies off in favor of this.
Current Devs touching Era is like a kid scribbling on a Picasso
yes, it’s a very slow, lackadaisical approach
Stay away from the best MMO ever made please. Leave it as it is, it’s perfect.
Pretty much this. Did you read how they’re deleting race based classing and now even “light-touched” can become Warlocks?
Won’t this post, as it could be understood as if I liked this change
But yeah pretty much this.
Yeah, well, screw lore. Amirite?
Thankfully retail isn’t the only version…
Nah just make a permanent SoM server and reset it every 6 months or maybe every year.
Let Classic Era be the place we all congregate when our collective minds get the itch to go back home.
PS: the majority of you already know how play “classic +” anyway …
I think people can expect some mechanic changes in seasonal servers like the first one and maybe other low manpower changes like tweaking some abilities here or there but the development of new content is something I don’t believe the classic team has the resources for or will have the resources for.
I get that it would be boring to play the same content for four years straight. I don’t agree with big changes like Classic+ type changes made to Era though. The game is supposed to be a snapshot that you can visit and play whenever you want to, it is not a progression server. Hence the name “Era”.
It is not a retail progression server. Era is also not #NoChanges. Its latest phase is free to be developed with any kind of novel Classic WoW content additions the devs see fit, so long as retail’s content is excluded.
Linked is the article Blizzard put out for Classic Era’s debut:
https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/world-of-warcraft-classic-and-burning-crusade-classic-characters-and-realms/
" WoW Classic will direct you to the new Classic Era realms which will have the latest phase of WoW Classic content in it and will not progress into any WoW expansion content."
NO!
I’m fine with a separate server catering to the Classic+ hype.
But not at the expense in taking away Era and turning it into Clasdic+, and I can’t play that version.
No, no, NO!
