Berate? Dude come on.
You’re writing whole books and I said to treat the employees like real people.
What is this victim complex?

Whats wrong with them working at 4 am on big patch days?
Whats with defending a company that routinely screws the east coast playerbase?
No one needs to work at 4am dude, you playing wow isnt that important.
I like how you equate treating people with respect as defending a company.
You got issues buddy.
So…assume sometime wednesday to be back up?
How am i not treating them with respect? Oh? Its disrespectful to ask people to work at 4 am? Well i hope you stop looking down on everyond who makes the utilities work. Wheres your respect? Welcome to ignore, its wjere bigots like you belong
OMG Tuesday between 7:00am PST and 3:00pm PST is the only time I had available to take PTO. It was the first time in 37 years that I was finally going to be able to play WoW. This is absolutely unacceptable and a huge injustice for those people who work for a living.
I demand compensation for my sub, the time I put into my characters, 11 years salary and a McDonald’s coke delivered personally by the CEO of Microsoft as an apology.
4am is Australian prime time. They already start at the time there are the fewest number of players region-wide. It’s impossible to not inconvenience anyone. The goal is to inconvenience the fewest number.
And by running maintenance until 6 pm est (minimum) youre impacting everyone in the est of america. To put that in perspective. NYC alone has 19 million people alone. The entire east coast has 118 million. And thats not the extent of EST.
The 7 am start pdt works well for “routine” maintenance and impacting as few as possible. But when youre talking 8 hour “scheduled” maintenance, that simply isnt true anymore
It seems like you don’t know what a lot of these words mean.
I’ll explain how a job works:
When you ask people to come into work at 4am, they dont just magically appear there. Getting somewhere takes time.
So to get to an office by 4am means you have to wake up around 1am.
You eat breakfast, you get dressed, you fix your hair, maybe you shower.
Then you drive to the office, park, get some water or cofee, boot everything up and START work.
So yeah let’s ask people with family and kids to wake up at 1am so you can play wow.
Don’t know why all the complaints? It’s the one day a week Blizzard’s employees actually work.
With 8 hour maintenance you’re impacting virtually everyone. There’s no way around it if you want the game to get updates. They aren’t going to start it in any region’s prime time.
I will be pulling everything from my personal banks before this happens. I don’t t care if I have to create more characters just to hold the items.
My guild banks got decimated and all I got back was a stack of flasks and a half-arsed apology from Blizz. I’m lucky, though. Most people didn’t get anything back.
So edgy. You should do stand up.
No. Because during those hours those on the pacific coast are at work. 7 am to 3 pm. They have almost no impact
I want my 20 year nostalgia bomb to perfect and frankly? With their track record with rescaling and repurposing old content, Blizzard will need all the time they can get to make it work. They can their 8 hour maintenance as long as I can enjoy the event for the months we have it.
If you can’t figure out a way to kill an afternoon outside of WoW when things go belly up and you can’t play it, you need more hobbies.
I’m just gonna cook all day. I’m gonna make some really complicated meal that pairs well with a cheap wine that I can drink lots of before the servers come back up. That sounds like a good use of a Tuesday I have off.
You ever eat a meal that takes more than 6 hours to prepare? I’m gonna make like a leg of lamb or a beef bourguignon or something, dude. It’s gonna be a project.
A lot of chores are going to be finished during that maintenance!
Which is why I set my work from home schedule for wed-fri next week, the heads up is nice for that.
It doesn’t matter if it’s 8, 12, 24 hours or several days. My point stands. If NOT playing WoW for any period of time causes the sorts of meltdowns expressed on these forums, then there are many people who need a serious reality check.
Lastly, because you are so concerned with dictating the work schedule of data center operations folks… If they are bringing down servers to start maintenance ops at 7AM, I guarantee they are starting their day at approximately 5AM. I’ve worked software engineering and IT ops for more than 35 years. You don’t show up, punch a time clock, and flip a switch.
Once again…“I am not prepared”.
Ahh the good old days LoL I solved my problem by jus writing Tuesdays off and making other plans that day
