8 hours, ugh hate that tuesdays are my day off
They get flack when they miss their scheduled maintenance window. I’m glad they said it will be down all day rather than set unreal expectations of only a few hours. Will it be down longer? Maybe. But now people can’t say they took off a whole day thinking the servers would be back up. They told you it would take awhile to fix.

I actually wrote a parody song about the Cataclysm patch that ION made " against TOS" I think we were down days not hours.
This patch is a bunch of balance changes and the 20th anniversary content.
The worst part is the blatant screw you to the east coast playerbase who will basically lose the entire day. Servers wont even be up until 6 (assuming no extensions). Youd think they could have started it earlier or something
Yes it is…you just show you have no idea the history of the game and shutdowns and what can happen and what has happened and why you need to just chill out and wait…
LOL its early morning for those that work the shut down maintenance…its 7 am for them in CA…how much earlier you want them to come in now…and before you go off on me…I live on the east coast in north FL…
Why? They have to launch it on their servers then debug anything that breaks right away…it’s 20 year old spaghetti code. Stuffs gonna break. Would you rather they didn’t do any updating at all? 8 hours is trivial. And honestly I’m surprised they can do it in 8.

Would it really be so bad for them to come in a few hours early on big maintenance days so as not to screw the entire east coast?
How exactly are you screwed on the east coast? I’m on the east coast, and I won’t feel screwed.
Seriously… very, very, seriously… if not being able to play WoW for 8 hours causes anyone any sort of anguish, whether mental, emotional, or physical, that is a sign of a REAL PROBLEM!
I get it; I’ve played this game since 2004. I’ve sat at the launcher endlessly starting the game, hoping that the next time I don’t see “realms down”. I’ve sat in multi-hour queues watching that number count down oh so slowly. Somewhere around 2008 I realized just how ridiculous that behavior was, and I stopped!! I no longer plan my life around a damned computer/video game. If the realms are up when I finish work on Tuesday, I’ll play. If not, then I’ll go do something else… hopefully something constructive like knock off a few things on my endless list of “crap I should do around the house.”

Expect bare minimum 12 hours potentially 16. There is zero chance it will be up by 3. Do not plan on playing at all Tuesday because you almost certainly won’t be.

Its not just 8 hours. You seriously think servers are going to come up on time? Based on other maintenances since release im expecting 10 hours.
And even if they do, for a lot of us, the entire day is lost. Between work, then maintenance and then needing ro sleep for the next day?
So you know how thats like your normal life?
Guess what, the employees at blizz are real humans with the exact same day to day limitations as you.

Call it what you will, smart business practice would be to not ostracize a good chunk of your playerbase every time.
Tell you what. In the interest of fairness since you clearly cant see the problem, lets start doing maintenance at 5pm pacific time. According to the way youre talking the pdt players would have bo issue with that right?
So lets have blizz do that. And when these forums erupt in qq from the pacific players i want you to treat them how you treat east coasters.
