Trying to make raids "hard" is ruining WoW

yes, that’s what I was referring to. It’s DikuMUD which Everquest was based on (I was a GM in everquest / aging myself). And the entire premise was “put a 3d skin on this.”

The only way that wow is substantially different than what a 30 year old game did is that that game made use of a text parser. So one raid boss had people typing lyrics to a song in chat, or needing to ask questions to NPCS not click “GIMME QUEST ITEM GOLDEN ICON” etc.

And as a result, years into Everquest, the director (in between some fat shnorts) claimed that there were tens of thousands of unsolved quests. Well yeah, and how many of them had text prompts that made no sense (or npcs that had no prompt for eatable/losable items).

So of course addons trivialize the game, just like 3D trivialized a lot of the headaches of the text parser.

Bonus points if you knew how you were supposed to “be far away” from a dragon that tail swipes in a text game. In a 3D game you, get this, stand where the tail can’t hit you.

with addons bleeping BwOOP BWOOP HEY THE TAIL IS ABOUT TO HIT YOU OMGGGGG you have to be touched by an angel to think that is nonimpactful to gameplay.

But don’t wonder why 100+ bosses later there are 17 effects happening at once with debuffs that require you to hug one player and kick another player while jumping. Gee whiz is it because addons enable that

Lol got it now. One of my nephews did the MUD thing. I never learned much about them. Thanks for the explanation!

Okay, he did say one thing to me when I asked him what he was doing in his MUD. He said, ‘I’m fishing. And if I spent as much time in real life fishing as I do in this MUD I’d be a Pro by now’.

MMO’s may change, but they don’t evolve.

Huh? You are speaking as if you have tears of aggression in your eye over worthless LFR that adds absolutely nothing to do game.

It enables lazy players and those who are absurdly toxic. Its a bastion of AFKing and nonsense.

It took me like two hours to work this into a joke for you, and I didn’t even get a heart. I’m hurt.

There’s always lower difficulties if the high ones are too much.

Im not the one crying myself to sleep at night over content I can CHOOSE to ignore lmao.

Toxic? as in calling others ‘lazy’ cuz you cant sleep at night over how they play their game?

Curious…HOW would you know this UNLESS you live in LFR? lmao.

heresay? Then it doesnt matter and you should go play your own game and stop whining bout someone elses. lmao

If you want tank & spank fights go to classic

Agree 100%.

We are forced to do LFR until we get all of our tier… its another form of loot anyone who wants tier is required to do. Are you new to the game?

definitely not crying myself to sleep over it… just offering suggestions to improve raiding quality and limit stats and numbers from getting out of control every other expansion.

oh please…I dont believe for a second that you HAVE to do LFR for you and your buddies to group and do normals with higher end NON LFR gear son.

you all seeing this?

“LFR IS BORING AND EASY…BUT SOMEHOW ITS THE ONLY WAY TO GET GEAR FOR NORMALS”

LMAO

As time goes on Blizzard adds more and more mechanics to LFR encounters. This is a natural tendency from people who think WoW should be “hard”. LFR Raszageth was particularly bad. There’s like 5 mechanics. LFR encounters simply shouldn’t have mechanics like “stand in the wrong spot and you die”.

In another thread someone joked the only way Blizzard knows how to make encounters “hard” is to add a knockback on a platform. There’s some truth to that.

Exactly. We’re designing content from an ever-shriking pool of players who have played for 18+ years.

The engagement Classic got should be evidence enough that Retail has gone off the rails. For the first year of Classic there were more people raiding in Classic than in Retail for supposedly “easy” or “trivial” or “boring” content like MC. That should tell you that the trend to make Retail raids more annoying (“hard”) is the wrong direction.

Looking at your profile, you have a bunch of Mythic raid achievements. The problem with WoW is that people such as yourself have a warped view of what most players want and Blizzard is listening to you when it comes to LFR.

LFR isn’t for you.

Anyone who says “LFR is too easy” just completely misses the point. It’s just not fun. And it’s mostly not fun because most people don’t want to read a guide on the 1-4 bosses in that wing prior to queueing and learn the 2-5 mechanics each of those bosses has.

Then the problem is not the content, is the lazyness of players that make the game bad, blizzard cant change that if the player is not willing to do it, thats why some of us do real content instead of LFR.

yeah a lot of people dont seem to understand that harder does not always mean more fun for a lot of the playerbase. most people in the wow community are selfish af and have weird ego’s attached to their achievements over pixels though so idk if we will ever bridge the gap back again to appeal to casual players

and exactly the point
If LFR is so bad for bad players then stop stressing about it and go do your normals, etc.

the joker above pretending he HAS to run LFR to get to normals isnt fooling me, lmao.

For The War Within Mythic+ Season 1, a recommended item level would be at least 590 or higher

so hes telling me he cant just run M+ to get geared high enough to get into normal raids?
Im calling nonsense lol

Yes, the users are wrong. They’re having fun wrong.

Blizzard should not be listening to Mythic raiders about LFR. Period.

Every time an easier difficulty is added, good players invade it and demand their voices be worth more (because they’re better, they deserve that extra weight in design), demand the content be made harder, and Blizz listens to them every single time.

I kind of want a new progression system that is not for highly skilled players and stays that way. For example, Remix had threads. We can farm threads (though less insane than in Remix) in for example, delves, and threads can be disabled in all mythic content. Threads can be disabled in Heroic content until Season 3.

This is the best of all worlds for everyone.

As a non-raider, and casual gamer, I disagree. LFR should still have some level of difficulty to prepare gamers for what an actual raid feels like. If it is too easy, people are going to drop like flies after the first wipe because it was not “faceroll” like LFR.

LFR should be heroic dungeon level or slightly ‘harder’.

They want it faceroll to demean it enough to then insist that its not needed at all lmao

All that instead of just NOT DOING IT lol

honestly, some of this crap sounds like that ‘elitism’ joke we get in here from time to time. lol.

They dont like anything being queueable to feel more ‘special’ when they do it, lol

I wouldnt think that way except every single time somone asks for normals to have queues added this group blows their stack about it, lmao…which blows their cover about it being ABOUT the random queue itself.

its like it hurts their ego or pride or something lol
