to be fair, i would rather dont play the shadowland grind… so i try to not use anything from that, and anything that forces me to go to zuldazar is also a no, no, for me.
While I have no interest in going back to SL any time soon, I enjoy grinding old content for transmogs, pets, toys, titles, achievements as a solo experience. But I do it at max level. That helps speeds things up.
That being said, my advice has already been given in this thread and I think some people just prefer to stay miserable/whine/complain and I guess that’s okay too. Different strokes and all.
This one requires Exalted with Death’s Advance, so you will likely earn the 6000 Stygia while earning rep. Pick up the Shaping Fate weekly, do Korthia dailies, do Maw assaults (2 per week), and finish the Korthia campaign. You can also earn minor amounts from a Tormentor’s event in the Maw and an elite world quest that you unlock in the campaign. Ve’nari quests from 9.0 do not award this rep but do award big amounts of Stygia if you still need it.
This one is from Korthia dailies, earned piece by piece as a possible reward when quests are generated.
Make sure to do the full Korthia campaign to unlock more dailies for more chances.
Tip: Once a daily quest spawns with a cosmetic armor piece as a reward, that same quest will reward a cosmetic piece for all toons in that region. So if you switch all toons to Kyrian, you can repeat the quest multiple times in the same day. The quest will always award a new appearance you don’t have yet, so finish the quest and learn the appearance before switching to an alt to do it again. Sometimes, multiple quests on the same day award an appearance, so you can earn the entire set very quickly with alts!
All you will need is Renown 64 and 10,000 Anima for this. You will get the Renown from campaign quests, callings, and Torghast.
Zereth Mortis rares and treasures will be a good source of anima if you still need any after all the grinding you will already be doing.
Base zones and Korthia can also be great for anima farming, but you will need to do a lot of grinding first to unlock and maximize gains, so I recommend ZM if you want to beeline towards certain rewards.
This one pops in your bags automatically when you reach Renown 60. You can even use the instant Renown boost to get this if you have already maxed out in another covenant.
You would need to buy the item first on a toon that has maxxed out covenant renown. Then you change to a different covenant and use the item to get an automatic renown 60.
Don’t do any quests that give renown until you use the item, it doesn’t give you 60 levels of renown, it only increases your renown level to 60.
Korthia sets are easy just have loads of alts that unlocked korthia. And then when its up, you send all of them to do the daily while being on that proper covenant. Also you need to have unlocked the 4th and 5th dailies on that character as well by doing up to a certain point in the 9.1 campaign.
The worst part is just bothering to get anima (especially now since no one is doing zereth mortis) and the grateful offerings.
Blizz is intentionally forcing players through the entire story for mogs which feels kind of wild. I can’t think of much else where you have to go through so much openly disliked story for some cosmetics.
Just for and giggles I tried to go through SL, the intro alone had me leave. Even after skipping the maw just the whole, talk to this guy, now talk to this guy, now walk with this guy, okay now talk to this guy, okay now go see the bank and pet tamer that you’ve seen 324632476238 times in other towns, okay now come back and talk to this guy, okay now we have to go upstairs and activate the flight point which has more talking, okay now you can start your adventure…after you talk to this blue girl, okay now talk to this machine, okay now talk to this owl…jfc.
In addition to the weekly turn-in, Ember Court faction reputation gains can be further increased by inviting more guests and making each of them more happy. It can definitely be done in less than a year and is a much easier goal than getting all guests to Best Friends status, for example.
There is, however, a huge amount of questing and micromanagement involved to set up all of the guests and event features. So you might prefer to just wing it with whatever you have and get smaller rep gains over a longer period of time.
omg literally it KILLS MY ENTHUSIASM. I feel my soul trying to leave my body when starting and it doesn’t get better! I got through most of Bastion on an alt and at the end I felt hollow, I felt absolutely nothing toward the story line itself. You have to talk to 463453123 NPCs over and over because they haven’t set up any of the lore elsewhere in the game and it has to be explained to you. And it’s torture.
I feel for you, truly.
I’m in physical pain hearing more and more about the requirements for SL mogs. Ain’t no way.
Tbh I can feel myself giving up already. It’s insane to me. I feel like I’m letting Blizzard win with their Punishment Machine 3000 by accepting this as is. So much of Dragonflight is actually fun and going back to SL content is depressing.
SL continues to hunt us even now. I went to go do some questing on my hunter to work on the covenant stuff and oooooooh boy. I was there for 5 minutes before I said “I really hate this place” and left.
DL can keep you very busy if you do all the weekly events and quests on multiple toons. I couldn’t imagine trying to do SL stuff at the same time, given how time consuming SL content is even at the new max level.
I have a half dozen toons that I even leveled to 70 to help collect SL appearances that I missed out on, but those toons haven’t done anything beyond Oribos. It’s just too much of a commitment right now.
Doing SL content at the time felt better because it was released in 3 batches over 2 years (9.0, 9.1, 9.2), and all of the zone activities were tied to current power, story, and cosmetic progression.
If there are any appearances that really strike your fancy, and some of them are not going to be such a huge grind, then it makes sense to go straight for those. But I wouldn’t advise spending that much time in SL other than getting the armor sets, titles, and mounts from max Renown or simple currency grinds.
I’m so bored of my current cloth mogs, too. Maybe I’ll just run other content and skip out on SL entirely. Shame we couldn’t get any similar models to SL stuff in DF, or even a way to buy SL cosmetics from a vendor. I’d easily pvp for it, or run content.
