For what it’s worth, it wasn’t that much better when it was current, but I don’t see them going back and changing it in any significant way. I would suggest taking your time with it. You’ll get there eventually. But yeah, as others have said, once you get one Covenant maxed, maxing the rest is pretty easy.
I think if you shift your perspective, you’ll enjoy it a lot more.
Shadowlands’ campaigns and story is pretty nice, and you get other awesome transmog along the way.
And this right here, folks, is why I quit in season 2!
Yeah, renown sucks. When they announced the more renowned Grind for Shadowlands and Korthia, those were my last straws.
I guess I wouldn’t have such a bleak outlook on it if it was just the campaign, but it’s the fact that I have to do so much after the campaign that twists the knife. Without flying.
Oh yeah, you’ve got a lot of ground to cover, but unlocking flying will probably take a fraction of the time that it takes to max a Covenant. Just gotta keep doing the campaign (the normal one) and you’ll be able to unlock flight in Zereth Mortis. You’ll get some renown along the way, too, essentially killing two birds with one stone. It’s a bit daunting, but I wouldn’t consider it difficult by any means.
The worst part is having to spend so much time looking through old threads to find the info you’re looking for, and not really knowing if all your effort will actually work. I was trying to do the silly quest-line to unlock SL flying but the guide on wowhead isn’t clear enough to follow. It gives a quest order, but it doesn’t tell you what quest you have to do to unlock the quest you have to do to unlock the quest you have to do. I just wanted flying to make getting one tmog on a different character a little easier (hopefully), but it soon became clear that just running around on the ground mount would be faster.
I’m not complaining about having to do the work in obsolete content that I’ll never look at again after I get the tmogs. Not at all. I just ask for a clear path to follow.
OMG this is where I was at yesterday trying to figure out the Campaign and Threads of Fate thing. There was no clear information anywhere & everyone had different information! And it’s STILL unclear because as you can see people in this thread aren’t even certain sometimes.
I know there’s been a lot of talk about the new player experience being really bad because everything is confusing, but this is evident of that, too! It’s not streamlined at all and adds to the frustration.
hey I’ve been wanting to get these mogs too, if you need some help or just don’t wanna be as bored farming this stuff add my btag Axtin#11244
One thing I want to add is I was talking to a XIV friend who used to play WoW. They were curious about DF and wanted to dive in, but their fear of “FOMO” with old gears / mounts / items makes them hesitant. Like if you can’t get something again or if it’s just not worth the amount of effort it will take, they’d rather stay gone. There’s a lot of people like this who left but don’t know if they can come back and realistically catch up on old items.
Just faceroll through Torghast, you get tons of covenant rep.
AND it has other collectibles along the way.
And I have tons of mogs from Shadowlands, I didn’t play it. These are silly concerns. Just play the game.
Also don’t tell anyone but I enjoyed the Shadowlands campaign. It’s just the ending that is a bit blerg - and the grind, but you can pretty much one shot things now.
I don’t mind the questing and unlocks and stuff. It’s content, and I should have to do content to unlock things. That’s just how games work. You have to do the content to get the reward, and it’s no different. Shadowlands had a ton of world content too, so plenty of solo chill stuff to do when not doing group content.
What actually annoys me still are grateful offerings.
Why is my ability to buy the stuff I’ve already unlocked timegated behind daily grinds?
That awkward moment I have “FOMO” items in XIV.
99% of items in the game are still available in WoW. It’s literally just a small handful of seasonal trophy rewards that are unobtainable. It’s such a miniscule drop in the bucket that people’s weird paranoid obsession over it is making it seem like there’s more items gone than there actually is.
Thanks for the bump.
I’ve only played one toon since they got rid of threads of fate… I bought the token for sixty renown… But god leveling was terrible.
It was worth it to get the title count for my toon chocula
Wait so if I wanna get mythic castle tmog for my rogue imma has to like redo all of SL inorder to unlock it …
It wasn’t the renown that burned me out in Shadowlands, it was the anima. It was so slow to acquire and one needed so much of it on every single alt. I worked out at one point that I would need to play Shadowlands for 10 years to complete my naive 9.0 todo list.
It might be a bit faster now, but I just don’t want to go back, not yet.
just go farm old raids for transmog… after reaching lv 80 renown you go and buy the thing for your alts to get 60 renown
Zm kinda fixed that
Oh here’s another person, I mean sheep, who thinks they’ll get clout for dumping on the expansion much less this whole thread is a troll attempt at that. You’re a very small minority and don’t even believe what you’re saying.
No I legit hated the expansion.
You didn’t. You just allowed yourself to be convinced you did.
