Guilds are harder to keep together now that you can raid with players on any server, and even guilds with good leaders lose tons of players when expacs flop like BfA and SL did.
In-game guilds are almost like defunct chat channels now, as Discord seems to be where a lot of groups communicate and arrange content.
My impression is that all the developers are raiders, and if thatâs true then they probably dont give a Gnats eyelash about professions. Its sad for me because professions use to be one of the best things about the game but the past few expansions have slowly ruined all of them. In Shadowlands it the worst I have seen it with a lack of useful patterns and outrageous costs on basic materials. However, I suppose that goes along with everything this whole expansion seeming lackluster and pieced together without much thought or consideration for enjoyment - not a good business model if you ask me.
This just gutted my interest in proffs. One of the items is, what, 125g or some ridiculous amount? I just canât get my head around the reasoning for that sort of design.
When I started playing back in Wrath I fell in love with professions and crafting. It was such an immersive, fun, creative thing I couldnât believe it was in a game. Watching it slowly devolve into this current state is heart breaking.
Engineers get a battle rez which is obviously incredible if you arenât a druid, warlock, DK. That alone beats anything that any other profession has by a mile, unless you already have a brez
Cardboard assassins have been super OP this season but getting nerfed (into oblivion) in 9.1. Even after that is nerfed, the invis belt enchant will be useful unless itâs also nerfed to share a CD with dps potions (patch notes arenât clear on that)
De Other Side has a nice feature for engineers to turn off the slimes, only need 1 engineer in the group but itâs pretty helpful
Wormhole generator doesnât have much to do with keystones (get to the summoning stone faster?) but still itâs pretty sweet with how painful travel is in the shadowlands
The Disposaboe Spec. Reanimator? It shares a CD with other rez inside instances, and has the chance to backfire and kill you, along with a 10 minute cooldown, so its of very limited value I would have thought. Not much fun to be had if bringing some back to life kills you in the processâŚ
The other stuff is very situational with the wormhole generator being the most useful. One or two items just doesnât do a lot for me.
Sharing a CD is not an issue in a 5 man dungeon where you likely have 0-1 people with a real brez. Having engineers with backup brez is very frequently the difference between a timed key and a brick. It is incredibly powerful if your class doesnât have baseline brez
Also Iâve used over 100 of them and never seen a backfire like youâre describing, and they have no cooldown in dungeons Iâve used 2 back to back before when two people in the group died.
Cardboard assassin is not situational, in this kite or die meta itâs extremely powerful to get a free 5 second reprieve for your tank. You could argue it doesnât count since theyâre removing it in 9.1, but at least for now itâs insane
Well, yeah. Higher-end players do, and are happy to do it, since that type of player really enjoys customizing and tinkering with their character. (Which is why covenant restrictions are so unpopular with such players.)
Do I need to explain what the old profession perks were, to you? Since thatâs what I was talking about?
Trying??? Itâs already destroyedâŚ
CompletelyâŚ
Other than engineering bres and cardboards assassin (no one knows outside of key pushers)
You have alchemist 2 hour flask.
Everything else? Just buy them.
They did, but their approach was to make gold easy to earn and consumables easy to obtain. Itâs still working, mostly. Oils, potions, gems, and most enchants are dirt cheap, Fae can get meats free from a soulbind, and I end up with enough gold for flasks from just playing the game. Int elixirs are a bit spendy but I usually use mana pots anyway.
The notable exception in SL are the legendary base items for leather and mail, which are being market manipulated to an extreme on my server. Thatâs driving a token market and why would Blizzard fix it? Itâs to their benefit for me to need to buy a token to get 100K gold for my legendary.
ETA: Notice they are not adding a way to break down and remake legendaries so players could potentially resell the base item to recover gold. Every time they change their minds and players have to remake legendaries, itâs more token income for Blizzard.
I hate the âforcedâ mentality crowd and the fact that they cater to them is ridiculous. God forbid we give people multiple paths of progression that they enjoy. If you donât want to do it, donât.
Here is a suggestion try out Final Fantasy 14, I just started on FF14 a few days ago after 15 years of WOW AND SO FAR love it.
I did a bunch of research before I did the move. OMG blizzard is so far behind them now. I guess all there effort has gone into Torghast and they didnât have time to fix anything else.
So done with WOW retail is just bad, started on Burning Crusade but you know what it was fun the first time around just not feeling it this time.
FF14 is going to kick blizzard butt.
What a shame IMO their greed is what has hurt WOW
