Trying to destroy Professions?

It had me wondering this very thing when I looked at my engineers. There is hardly a single thing in Shadowlands engineering that is worth spending the materials and time on. They are either BoP, locked to the character or only useable by other engineers. Only the pet is decent, and that requires Ascended Exalted rep.

On top of that we have the other crafting proffs which are dead ends, pretty well, unless you have massive gold amounts to level up the legendaries. Otherwise as usual, LW, tailoring and BS are useless within a very short time. Jewelcrafting doesnt seem all that impressive either, while Enchanting seems just so-so. That leaves Alchemy, which depends on gathering herbs, something that is farmed to death by so many damned bots.

They removed First Aid and Archaeology isn’t even in use for this expansion. So I have to wonder, are they working towards somehow removing professions altogether by making them useless?

Maybe not directly, I think they just reaaaaaallly have a skewed vision for professions and don’t have any idea what to do with it. Then when they do something, they nerf it into oblivion because of some fear that it’ll make other gear obsolete.

They just stink at designing professions in a fun yet relevant way. Like who the hell on that team thought crafting several expensive legendaries to rank it up. Saturate the AH cause you can’t really get anything out of it past that since prices tanked and people just tank everything… was a good idea.

Is it a ploy to drain gold from the game, who knows, Ion and this team suck at a lot of non raid-dungeon related things.

There’s a reason I never crafted mine and I just bought it instead lol

It’s all a big plot to introduce a tinker class.

I’m kidding. I honestly think the devs would rather have every profession focus on Gear, and raid utility.

The one time I do recall all the professions being fun was back in MoP. They managed it then but after they completely walked away from them. In MoP you could make a trinket that was BoE and, for a good long while, an extremely good trink. So they do have a history of being able to think outside the box, but it’s been a while. Maybe it was different developers back then, I don’t know that much about the history of the designers.

That does seem to be the case.

Good move on your part, that’s for sure.
Just sucks for someone like me who likes to flesh out the professions, so I’ve just ignored that after losing a chunk of gold, not worth it for me.

Honestly, I can’t say they’re trying to destroy professions. I believe they’ve already succeeded.

Making a mount for engineers to sell would require a unique mount, and that means work.

So no way in hell.

lmao.

And yet, we have the Sky Golem. And the goblin and gnome rockets. There have been mounts before that were unique…but most of them were from MoP, like the jewelcrafters gemmed panthers. It seems creativity started dying about then.

they been dead for awhile really. besides herb/alchemy for endgame stuff making legendary things helped a little for some professions.

This is what gets me. Why is he in charge? Like I’m sure he’s a great raid dev, but I wouldn’t put him in charge of the whole thing. You don’t put the head cafeteria chef of a hospital in charge of the entire hospital…

It’s infuriating to me that basic fun items like the bomb/grenade and the land mine have a 5 minute cooldown and a cast time.

And they don’t even do much damage.

And they will do even less damage when mobs and players have more hp in next patch.

Why do you hate fun blizzard?

Blizzard destroyed professions a long time.

First Aid exists in Tailoring but it is an afterthought.

Truly a shame that professions have been neglected.

First Aid was created so that characters that had no other fast means of healing could whip up some bandages and use them to heal during play. Any class could make them as long as they used the cloth they gathered to level up the skill. So rather than improving the profession and making it relevant again (which could have been easily done) they simply removed it and absorbed it in another profession.

So I mean, whats next? Herbalism is absorbed into Alchemy and Inscription? Mining is absorbed into Blacksmith and Engineering? Do we keep these shrinking professions to the point where they are eventually just turned into things you buy from vendors with gold or other invented currencies?

I could easily see it going that way.

That might happen.

Mining might end up absoring archaeology as well. After all this time you would think that professions would improve and expand!

there was talk of having vendoring machines at one point in wow i can’t remember when but i remember a little of the interview.

Yep. People saying they found the dead body of professions?

That body was found in BFA lol.

It took TBCC for late comers like me to wow (late legion start right before BFA) to see how bad it is

It blew my mind in TBCC as I made stuff in LW it had meaning. Another doing engineering and its like damn…I can use this stuff beside engineering level grind.

Hell the BIS to enter tier 1 raid is made by hand for some in the old days. No rng-o-matic. Can’t even get this in SL to hit LFR ffs. Not even talking the big show of competitive real raid.

This applies to anything that used to be fun about the game, really.
