Myself and a bunch of others have been active all evening and suddenly, out of the blue, we randomly lost TL3.
Can we please get some insight into what just happened and if we’re getting it back?

They finally fixed that b-license thing on the backend, is my guess.
Forums are in a bad state by the sounds of it. Notifications are delay’d, trust levels are being reverted or changed… Feels like the forums are going backwards.
Oh great now I’m starting to get notifications for stuff I’ve already gotten a notification for…
Double notifications.
for that one I’ve noticed if I don’t clear out a notification by clicking it it wouldn’t show later ones
This is what I think happened. Trust levels were artificially granted using group permissions to allow Beta forum posting permissions they wanted for bug reporting and such. Those were account wide and did not expire at the end of the Beta.
Trust levels in the current forum software are SUPPOSED to be specific to the character and drop off if someone does not maintain the activity to keep TL3.
Should we finally get Bnet account level permissions, the trust level, post history, post count, likes, flags, and Ignore would be Bnet account wide.
For now, it seems they finally fixed a mistake that granted perma TL 3 to accounts across all chars even if the person no longer meets TL3 requirements for participation or behavior. Getting suspended did not drop a person out of it…
Anyway, that is my guess on the whole thing. It is a bit early to ask.
The issue with notifications is just a massive bug or something. It is impacting everyone including the Blues. They know about it I think. Not sure what they can do about it, but they know.
Except I’ve absolutely maintained it. So losing it just because they changed something is not acceptable.
Yeah you should have the requirements met on your Sendryn char. It is rather active …
I wonder if changing the Beta permissions only removed those but that the Beta group if you are still in it over rides your normal permissions still.
A quick fix is to remove you from the Beta group so the forums only see Sendryn as Sendryn. Maybe?
Honestly, and in my own opinion, I think the forums are being a little too restrictive in regards to permissions over images/links. While leaving it to Trust Level 3 seems like a good idea, it isn’t easy to earn, especially when the forums doesn’t even move as fast as it used too back in 2018, and it is far too easy to lose, including if you go inactive for a few days for any reason at all.
Not sure. But trust levels are harder to get than grinding rep in the game and I’m not keen on things like this just disappearing without word when I’ve definitely maintained it.
I hope we get some info on what happened. And I hope something gets fixed.
The former iterations of the forums only allowed links to Blizzard internal websites. So Knowledge Base, Support, other Blizzard forums.
This is a more permissive forum setup than before the 2018 change over. I know they do it to prevent malware links, content that violates the rules, etc. The idea being once people show they can be trusted they can post links.
On the time frame - the requirements to hit and maintain TL3 can be adjusted per larger forum grouping. So quiet forums like D3 have different minimums than an active forum like OW2. Of course, permissions only extend to that set of game forums only, not to other game forums. Heh.
I have been thinking while making coffee. I have a theory! It is not related to bunnies though.
The WoW forum permissions are wonky due to the customization.
In theory you should have had your posting char for WoW put into a Beta group with temp TL3 permissions for those forums. However, instead they put the whole Bnet account in a Beta group with perma permissions. Those account permissions over ride the intended char level permissions.
I can’t wait until someday the WoW forums just work like the other ones.
Now, to see if I still believe that theory once I get coffee.
It’s hard to say, I’ve always had TL3 due to the bug but I almost never posted pictures and what not. But MOST people break the code of conduct pretty regularly, even people who live their lives here. If you regularly respond to the well known “trolls” who post threads that eventually get deleted then you probably break the CoC more than the trolls themselves do. (I should say break CoC more often, though probably not more flagrantly)
Having the post just deleted when a whole thread is nuked is fine. That is not a violation. Not unless the moderator actually singles the person out for an account penalty. That penalty on the account is what usually triggers the TL3 loss. TL3 can be earned back after that though. I think there is a 6 month period before they can start earning it back.
I’m just saying that if you see a post that you highly suspect is a troll and will be deleted the desired response is that you let it rot, not take it as a FFA to spam the thread with posts that break CoC. Whereas it does work the way you describe in a practical sense, in a technical sense lots of people are doing the wrong thing pretty regularly.
This opinion really has nothing to do with the above posted bug report and trying to get information on what’s going on with that. Please don’t derail this thread and devolve it.
Im exp this as well i had it just fine till last nite of you check the cs lounge you will see that and my posting hitory in the t3 lounge ive posted there as well.
I do appreciate that this picked up those that had forum punishments. Getting TL3 through a beta program, yet being able to still maintain it through any violations seemed counter intuitive. I wonder if the cleanup relates to the new beta coming up, or just upcoming forum changes in general.
I was honestly bemused that I’d been dropped back to Trust Level 2 considering my activity on my Realm’s forums, but if this is a known bug and Blizzard is doing Blizzard things, I’ll just wait for the screaming to get loud enough that they pay somebody to actually fix it properly.
If people are losing trust level retroactively it would be nice to be told why, and what we need to do to regain it, seeing many of us are involved in long running Lounge conversations, often involving people who don’t post anywhere else.
If TL3 is being lost over actions long ago, that’s hardly fair. It’s like getting a ticket in the mail months after the fact, and we have no idea when or if we can get the status back.
