Trump is signing an executive order to prohibit transactions with Tencent

This isn’t how you fight the internet

While I agree with you, be aware because a lot of “American” companies are now actually owned/controlled by foreign entities.

Trader Joe’s - Germany
Aldi - Germany
Peet’s Coffee - Germany
Panera - Germany
Popeye’s - Brazil
Burger King - Brazil
7-11 - Japan

And that is only a few…

Tencent has holdings in:

-Arena of valor
-Honor of Kings
-League of Legends
-Valorant
-Clash Royale
-Fortnite
-Gears of War
-Activision Blizzard
—Overwatch
—Starcraft
—Hearthstone
—WoW
—Heroes of the Storm
—Call of Duty etc
-Ubisoft
-Rocket League
-PUBG
-a couple smaller things

The order is new, hasn’t passed; its unclear how it will effect these games. They haven’t commented. I won’t speak out against any party so people just reading the forums can be informed of what games this effects without having to go looking for other sources

Thank you big time for the info! At the end of the day, I like to think most of us are just here to game and don’t give a %$^# about the politics.

Or maybe that’s just me.

It’s been four years, Trump is the President now.

That moment when you realize Alliance-Horde finger-pointing is the perfect in-game metaphor for American politics…

Yep, the guy that runs child labor factories in China to make his crappy armbands…I mean hats is suddenly going to get tough on China.

More like some billionaire lined his pockets to help eliminate the competition…

riot and epic are gonna get boned if this is a thing. Diablo Immortal was already gonna be a fail in the west but maybe the eastern market will get boned.

Your welcome, although for you the effects would be more temporary if even noticeable at all. Honestly it may even benefit someone in Canada, as I assume that is where they would move their Headquarters.

Sure…

but did you hear about Camp Taurajo?

Possibly. There seems to be no mention of exceptions or much nuance in this order.

It’s possible Trump doesn’t realize just how much share and ownership Tencent has over a lot of American companies and goods.

This could severely cripple the market to some rather scary degrees.

Careful there; you seem to be implying that Donald Trump has even less business expertise than Jastor Gallywix…

Well the alternative is he is very well aware of how much ownership Tencent has, and is hoping this order will strong arm them into selling their holdings to American companies.

Which if that worked, it would be a positive for The American economy. But if it doesn’t, then it could be the most devastating loss in history.

Honestly, I suspect that is the goal. I’m not a huge fan of conspiracy theories… But sometimes I wonder if Trump isn’t a Russian saboteur. Meant to divide the country and cripple the economy.

You mean he is a…(slowly dons sunglasses)…Manchurian Candidate?

Meanwhile, over on the Left we have Bernie “I vacationed in the Soviet Union and it was glorious” Sanders.

I’ve just become resigned to the notion that every politician is a saboteur, Russian or otherwise.

Well the economy is tanking pretty hard at the moment. A lot of people are dying and more people are unemployed.

Trump just keeps doing wildcard moves like this which dominates the news cycles and stops people from focusing on those other aspects.

I’m not gonna buy into the whole Russian asset conspiracy, I write it off as a very unfit leader of the nation, who puts his ego ahead of the countries safety and operation.

I agree, but sometimes it is hard to believe someone can possibly be so damn stupid.

Since they only own a 5% stake in Activision Blizzard does it still matter? Its less than 50%.
