Truly reprehensible posts should get you an account ban. Edit: I found out they actually do

You should lose your job and be put on a list and your family should be taken from you too!

Dont quite get why that matters. I mean why does it matter if theyre just looking for a response. They still did the action that violates terms and conditions.

Good. I’m glad it got deleted. He got what he wanted. Anyone that would troll that blatantly clearly only wants one thing. I don’t know why people intentionally get themselves banned. I saw it happen in Zereth Mortis, right after they introduced the social contract.

“Oh, Blizzard wants me to behave? Well, I suppose doing the exact opposite would be fine.”

All I can think is maybe advertising some kind of RMT transfer community, or maybe intentionally linking people to trojan horses or pages with keyloggers. I don’t think some little small-minded troll, spouting vitriol, is going to get his whole account permabanned, but I can think of ways that someone could really get themselves in some hot water.

Wut? They violated the CoC, not the ToS lol.

I guess that depends on how you define “truly reprehensible”. Some people think others should be silenced because they simply disagree with their opinion.

And this statement here raises another point. Who decides what is reprehensible? Blizzard mods? The upvote ratio? Having the mob decide anything would be reprehensible itself.

Eh, the ToS, really the EULA now, mandates that we will follow the Code of Conduct and other game policies. Those tend to change from time to time so they link them in the EULA, instead of detailing them out. Example the new SoD GDKP policy is not in the EULA directly, but the EULA dictates we follow the game rules…so yeah. Kind of all encompassing.

So, they are not wrong?

CoC for the forums. You don’t get banned in the game for trolling the forums lol.

This is correct. If the post is that bad, they will take actions further than just a forum vacation. But that’s going to be few and far between.

LOL you’re not wrong.

OP isn’t saying to ban people in game for that kind of stuff, though. They’re talking about serious violations: death threats, that sort of thing. Which can already happen. So the thread is kinda moot.

But the problem is, OP is all riled up after the last thread, where, ironically, he may have gotten himself a small vacation in game for what he threatened.

This, and only this. Blizzard is the sole arbitrator in this discussion. They decide if a report is actionable, and if so, what to do with it.

They would decide what penalty to apply. Things that are illegal, real life threats, threats of violence/terror, etc. Those are the kinds of things that can be instant bans, maybe even the account level.

Again though, it is all up to the Mods based on the account history and nature of the infraction.

Reporting someone does nothing unless the Mods agree. Worst it can do is hide a post then everyone clicks it to see what it said. Eventually mods either remove the flag, or do something with the reported post. Delete/edit is a mild warning. A suspension means actual action was taken.

I totally missed it. Probably for the best.

I see you typing Perl :stuck_out_tongue:
I just checked the other place. I see the title and description. Yikes!

You may not have seen it happen before, but it does indeed happen. On top of that, Blizzard is within their rights to permanently close a player’s account, and I’ll quote and link it here:

Blizzard reserves the right to terminate this Agreement at any time for any reason, or for no reason, with or without notice to you.

Section 10-B if you want to read it.

It was filled with vile hate.

Maybe we have a different definition of trolling.

I can guarantee that it does not lol.

:dracthyr_sweat::dracthyr_cry_animated: :dracthyr_cry_animated:

Why do people even harbor such hate, much less think it is ok to spew it? I don’t get it. If I don’t like someone or something, I just leave them alone. Like, I don’t care for football but I would not run around trying to ruin the fun for those who do. Mild example but yeah.

No, actually you can’t guarantee that. Not sure if adding “lol” to the end of the sentence is supposed to make it a joke, if you are literally laughing out loud at something, but that thread was a perfect example of when someone could receive harsher account actions.

I love that you didn’t even read the quote where Blizzard absolutely can take action against any account for any or no reason whatsoever.

Oh, people most certainly can get their whole Bnet account closed for their chat - either in game or on the forums. Depending on what they say and how many infractions they have. It happens, frequently to botting/advertising accounts, rarely to real accounts. Takes work to do, but some people cross those lines.

I’m not even talking about that other thread lol. Perfect example of someone jumping into a conversation without reading the context of what was being discussed.

Where did I state otherwise?

…Except that thread was closed.

Ok? Not sure why you are telling me that lol.

I’m glad I missed that. I hate vile hate.

Oh just saying, if you’re telling somebody to get the context of something …and that context of something is gone…

Ain’t saying you have to fill in the blanks. Just saying, maybe you should let people hop right in since they will be doing it anyways.
