That background art is sick tho. Reminds me of the background art in the OG talent trees, but much more high rez.
I agree, there will always be balance issues and a Fotm class in pvp.
The only solution to that problem is to have no talents at all. We know that there will always be a numerical best. If you’re only choosing prescribed talents, the system isn’t for you.
I genuinely don’t understand how one is a cookie cutter system and the other is not.
The current system could still have been good if they would have made an effort to keep the rows thematically aligned.
To many classes now with rows combining mobility/defensive/damage where it force you to make a choice between 2 unrelated aspects.
Yep.
Final Fantasy “solved” it by just removing all choice and customization.
I’m glad WoW isn’t going that path and will let us play around with flexibility, even if a mathematical best will be developed for content.
Actual proof that they will never be able to please everyone. Talent trees are a GOOD thing.
im excited ill have at least 6 alts to level and try out the new talent system.
Who else is pumped?
I mean kind of? It’s a nice gesture but it will end up with you going to Icyveins, and just copying the cookie cutter build.
Although it will be fun to mess around with it and find some broken sleeper build that Blizz hasn’t found out about.
I think this is being looked at through rose tinted glasses, similar to a lot of other thing that used to exist in classic. That they brought back this expansion, yet we’re tier useless, or cause more issues than it solved.
In all honesty hybridization is why this expansion suffered like it did. Given holy paladins for a long time we’re both a DPS and healer, and meant keys could be slammed down with ashen hallow pulls. In which shamans and priests have filled that role due to the AH nerfs that happened.
In which all these trees will do is further encourage that, and knowing blizzard. It simply will not be balanced at all, and will all be cookie cutter like current talents are right now. In all honesty nothing is wrong with our current talent system, other than the majority of talents are not balanced well row to row. Which means you have cookie cutter builds that come into play, same has and will happen with trees in that they’ll ball be cookie cutter based on the content your doing, over having the freedom to build how you want it.
We’ll see. If it looks like it’s something enjoyable, I say give it a shot. But if it looks like it’s a train wreck waiting to happen like Covenants were, demand loudly on the forums every day and in beta for the current system to continue forward and all work on this system to cease immediately.
No seriously. Make as much noise as you would over High Elves until it’s so overdiscussed it can’t be ignored or slipped into the game as an “Oops, we’ll fix it at some point in 10.2…”
Ah ya that is a good point I haven’t leveled a toon in forever haha…
Who else is pumped?
Just because they change something, doesn’t mean it’ll actually work.
probably the only thing im excited about this expansion which is deeply troubling for me because i was hoping there would be more for me but oh well.
If Blizzard does this right, the talent system well be the better part of this expansion
Agreed.
Another thing that makes me happy which is a direct quote from one of the Developers “Flying in the Dragon Isles will not require a Pathfinder achievement”
Also the comment of no borrowed power of any kind makes me really happy
Says the necrolord shaman that is 1/2/1/1/1/3/1
I need to know HOW we’ll get the talent points. I doubt they’ll give them freely.
I expect a god awful grind.
Well, you see, around the isles will be nodes called Azerlevelups. You will also get worldquests for Azerlevelup currency!
demand loudly on the forums every day and in beta for the current system to continue forward and all work on this system to cease immediately.
Everyone did that with covenants besides the blizzard fanbois.
Ha! Someone was cutting onions in my room as well, whilst I watched the reveal! Cutting LOTS of onions!
And that’s exactly it… Once raidbots and other sims are used, instead of 70+ talents, you will end up with a very specific selection with perhaps 2-4 flexible talents… It will be a repeat of all those Legendaries that you see in Shadowlands… When was the last time you saw a pair of DPS using Judgement of the Arbiter? How about Echo of Eonar? I occasionally see the utility Warrior with Leaper, but again it’s once in a blue moon…
The 7 tier 21 talent system we have offers the most customisation - especially considering the old talent trees had quite a few attribute 0/5 options, such as 1% block, or +4 Defence Rating…
I for one look forward to them bringing back the old trees. It’s inevitable that the min maxers will figure out the optimal builds. However not everyone does high end content.
Hopefully given the known drawbacks of the old style trees we’ll get some previews soon so feedback can be given. The later in development the less likely things are to change.
