"Trolling" Forum code question

Additional reports can add weight but even a single flag generates a report for our Moderation staff to look into it.

Trolling tends to be one of the more complicated categories we have because is can be extremely subjective. A lot of what we look at is covered in our Code of Conduct. Though when it comes to trolling most of the obviously inappropriate comments are when it includes naming calling or otherwise insulting someone, picking a fight, etc…

We also try to look at things like: Does the post promote constructive discussion or add positively to the community?

Obviously, a strict adherence to the above would require us to delete half the posts made. We try to find a balance.

It can be, yes. Some folks put more value in similar experience and if they believe someone doesn’t have a specific rating or gear score, etc… they may not believe the person has a proper perspective or experience to understand the particulars of the discussion. For them, that is a valid opinion and they aren’t necessarily wrong for having it.

How they interact is another matter entirely. They don’t have to engage with the person with the opinion they don’t value, nothing is forcing them to, but they would do well to avoid insulting others, name calling, etc.

It’s hard to say, Dervish. If they are rude, that doesn’t necessarily fall under trolling, if they are insulting, that may. If you feel they are crossing a line, feel free to report it and one of our Moderators will be able to review it.
