There’s no covid in Florida.
As a resident of Florida, I assure you that is false.
There is one in every bunch. A long time ago, they was called village fools (and I am being nice).
Disney World is two words.
Maybe you should stay home.
Not true at all, I Don’t know a single person who has it. Not a single one, So it doesn’t exist in my life.
Covid scare doesn’t work anymore. FL is doing better with Covid case. Everyone is attacking Ron Desantis because he most likely going run for president and win.
Covid is here to stay and you have learn to live with the virus and also it means you cannot keep relying on wearing a mask. Its impossible to get zero covid cases it will continue to jump around from people to animals. I got the booster and ready to live a normal life without wearing a mask.
I have family in FL that goes to Disney regularly. Do it, op. Your family will have a good time.
We went this past May with a similar group, minus the parents. We had a 5yo, 2yo twins, and some family friends. We had plenty of fun but it was definitely a rougher experience than previous trips.
On our first day at the park the mask mandate was still in effect, so masks had to be worn 100% of the time once inside the park. This was pretty terrible as it was about 90 degrees that day and there was really no escape from it, (pro tip: go on lots of rides in the dark!). That night they lifted the mandate though and then masks were only needed indoors or while you were in line (I believe that is still where they are at now).
It was definitely less crowded, which was a big plus, but not to the point where you could just hop right on rides - popular things like the mine train still had a 1hr wait. Be prepared to miss out on some features that are normally there - when we went the characters weren’t wandering around the park for the kids (although the parades still happened, you just couldn’t interact), fireworks were cancelled, and some services were shut down, (we stayed at the Key West resort and the boat shuttles were not operating, which was kind of a drag).
We went to Disney World, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Disney Springs over the course of the week and all had some precautions in place which made us feel relatively safe. Overall, we had quite a bit of fun still, but it was definitely not on par with pre-COVID trips. If your group is relatively OK with mask wearing, you should still be able to have a pretty good time!
I had a trip planned this year that I canceled but I’m going next year unless something major and unpleasant comes up.
No, no trip to any disney-place is ever worth it. What a waste of time and money.
Bring money
My grandparents took me to Disney World when I was around 5. I don’t remember the trip at all, I only know abou it because they told me it happened.
Wait until they’re older… For now maybe plan a trip to a beach? Rent a condo big enough for everyone. Lots of fun at the beach and much safer with Covid still around. Burying dad in the sand, building sand castles, sea shell scavenger hunt, s’mores on the bon fire at night… maybe snag some fire crackers during new years to save for the trip. - all a fraction of the cost of Disney World
Check out Magic Journeys on YouTube. They just returned from a 2 week stay at Disney World. Might help with your decision.
You will pay an exorbitant amount of money to wear a mask and wait long lines, save up, think of a different trip that doesn’t include thousands of people near eachother, there’s so many other options you Americans have, Disney World shouldn’t even be an option even without covid.
Absolutely, every kid should go to Disney World at least once
I was this close to going when I was a kid, I think we moved away or something and anyway my parents didn’t even tell us we were almost going until we were adults. Honestly I’m sure when I’d have gone (high school) I would not have appreciated it, and even as an adult I don’t really feel like I missed anything, and I’m a fan of oldschool Disney from, like, when Disney was still alive before everything was Disney. They have, uh, diluted their brand.
2022 should be fine. F Covid. You just have to live your life.
Two things:
I would not take anyone in their 70/80s on any vacation that includes lots of indoor time and/or close contact with strangers in the near future. To enjoy Disney World to the fullest, both are required so I would not plan to bring people of that age there.
The prime age to take a child to Disney World is seven. At that age they are old enough to ‘get’ and enjoy the themeing but not so old that they can’t believe in the magic. I would wait until both your children are at least five.
I did two separate trips with my two granddaughters when they were seven and found the following message boards invaluable for planning:
Warning: the people on the second site tend towards privileged and can be a little… snotty but when it comes to info and ideas they are amazing. Also reading their trip reports, gave me the best perspective on how to arrange my trip and avoid pitfalls. Unfortunately, Disney has removed a lot of perks for on-site stays so anything from older trip reports will need to be further researched.
Op,if you do go ,go,for your kids.I was promised to go to Disney land in California and half way there my parents had a argument turned around went home ,60 yrs later I still remember the hurt it brought me ,i never still to this day went there. Enjoy the time you can with your kids and don’t make a promise you can’t keep.
Instead you could buy toys that are from Dysneday . Build fortress with mattress , some colorful light bubbles and candies. You can have your own disney land in your house!
