Tried SV hunter.... I just want to know why?

Uh oh we found the OPs true purpose of posting a thread! Making comments a teenager would think of!

Daddy chill.

It was added to give hunters a variety. They had 3 ranged specs, was in mail gear, and had melee weapon access. I don’t see an issue with hunter class fantasy fighting alongside their pets. I think it was a good edition.

Call me a brat all you want.

This is incorrect. Black Arrow and Explosive Shot do not act as they did in old Ranged SV.

In fact Black Arrow doesn’t exist.

He seems to be BM though, so it’s kinda weird that Survival is the melee spec.

it also still has access to arcane shot and steady shot (although theres little use for steady shot since we have plenty of other recharges)

we spend a lot of time kiting other melee, and catching other ranged; its a fun playstyle, but also more complex than most specs, so it takes some time to love.

I level a lot of hunters, and usually do so as surv, and at lower levels (like, teens, early 20s) its really more convenient to use a ranged weapon before you have more abilities, at least on a lot of BG maps.

The thing is if they made a rogue spec that used throwing daggers I would play it.

It was a dot based ranged class, the hunter using poisons and makeshift contraptions like a stick of dynamite tied to an arrow.

I’m right and I don’t care what any of you think.

We didn’t need another melee spec in this game. It’s stupid. Terrible descion.

Yes. It is.

like 2-3 expansions old I’m thinking.
Now that youʻve caught up, welcome to the party.

he’s BM/Surv, most lore characters are really hybrid specs, for example, Anduin as a priestadin. The more annoying thing about Rexxar is that they won’t let us dual wield 1handers despite his example.

It was a mobile dot class that used traps and enhanced ammunition . It was the class that handled the adds while BM handles the boss fights while in close and MM was handling them from long range.

Pre Legion it was more or less a ranger spec and pre 5.4 during cata all hunters had melee weapons and abilities .

Melee abilities were part of their defensive tool kit to help them defend until they could get back to range to do their actual real damage.

The whole survival was always melee is as much a retcon as Rexxar always being Survival .

No he was always BM until Legion .

It really isn’t. The WotLK version of Survival will always be the best iteration and melee survival should have been a talent option like Gladiator Stance was.

I’ve only been called brat once in my life. And it was because I threw this girls barbie doll out the window (my sister, I don’t claim her) She would secretly hit me being 3 years younger then her, it hurt when I was 5-7.

I was called a brat by my aunt and hit upside the head.

Thanks OP for making me feel young again.

Serpent Sting, Wildfire Bomb

sounds the same to me.

It was an improvement.

Lacing an arrow with poison isn’t the same as tying a BOMB to it.

And I was told I was a MORON for suggesting Hunter gets the Engineer spec.

It still does that, the enhanced ammunition is just bombs now. We have access to spare traps in our talent tree and stings in our pvp talents. It’s still very much a dot spec played correctly (serpent sting, 3 bomb debuffs with CD interaction)

Surv is really designed as a pvp spec is the thing to understand about it. It doesn’t really feel complete without honor talents. And that could be a problem going forward, but who knows. It’s still fun in pve as-is, but it’s an oddball there where it’s a much more natural fit for pvp, serving as a strong counter to both melee and casters.

because there was no melee+pet class. now there’s one.
