for me it’s the opposite but for MM. i simply just don’t touch SV anymore since it’s melee but i didn’t mind MM before but now i just don’t care for it. thinking of making a new hunter and actually maining it long term for once but idk because id go bm and dealing with pugging content it wont be fun despite you actually got people running BM in high keys and high rated PvP as well

Yes! Do you?

Can a Hunter play at melee distance? Answer below, please.

Can a Warrior play at ranged distance? Answer below, please.

I’ll wait…

Year of the spear. BM might be good, but man the amount of uncapped AoE and cleaving the SV Hunter does with Legendary+Unity+Tier is insane.

yea right now i am back and forth between mm and bm fights depending and when it comes to mythic plus i stick with mm but i bounce between night fae, kyrian and necro dungeon depending. and nerco because it is so much more fun than night fae and kyrian.

and i better not get myself started on this covenant nonsense, omg. this is another bad design by blizzard. get in a raid. wait guys i need to switch. kills boss. goes to next boss wait guys i need to switch. and this goes on for full clear.

i wish blizzard would come to their senses and stop 180-ing specs every xpac and in some cases patches. its bad for the game and it is a huge determining factor that pushes people away. most of us deal with it, but can you only imagine a “newish” player trying to get into the game. its bad enough they need to learn the right talents per fight but all this covenant stuff will make their heads explode.

no wonder blizzard cant keep the newer players.

I want to like it, but it feels like one of the jankiest WoW class specs.

You have to drop traps on top of yourself in melee range to optimize your DPS, which makes no sense, for starters.

i feel you to my friend. when i started this game at release i played a paladin and druid. when wrath started i was druid and then i mained rogue right up to mop. now mind you during this time i went on an alt bonanza with refer a friend and made nearly 200 toons. but i was maining rogue up until mop.

when mop hit, i said i would never play another melee. i hated it so much. i was sick to death of it. so i mained a ranged survival hunter. i destroyed mop got all my mythic garrosh boa, mount, titles achievements then went into wod as ranged survival destroyed highmaul and blackrock foundry.

hellfire releases and this was around the time those rumors were flying around about survival going melee in legion. that is the fall of vishamani. 10 man raiding removal kill my guild but a few of us persisted and got more people and became better. but the announcement of melee survival did something to me mentally that i was not prepared for.

it pushed me away. i didnt even raid hellfire. i barely logged in. legion came and went live and i died and quit.

thats my story. sorry if it bores anyone. but i thought i would share so that others can see why i am still mad after all these years and why i get the way i do over melee survival. it hurts still.

IIRC in Vanilla ranged weapons DID have minimum ranges and you DID have a “smack with the ranged weapon” melee attack.

It is odd that the only thing on my Hunter/DK/Warrior that has a minimum range is Charge - on a melee toon.

yay i made it into the longest forum post in the history of eletronic games

Ye that was a weird argument, but hunter did require a minimun range in the past in this game, if you got to melee range you’d have to use melee to attack

Sounds cool af, I’d happily take an outlaw sniping people with guns, calling in artillery, a disengage mechanic etc. As for a mage, I’d love a battlemage kind of spec. Instead of ranged spells it can just teleport in and melee with various weapon enhancements

I like how you think your opinion is absolute and as if it’s a smoking gun to prove some sort of fact. The Survival Hunter in current build plays off of the old raptor strike ability, and is likened to a sort of Troll Headhunter style. Hunters with spears is awesome.

Additionally, there’s many Hunter mains that are streamers and friends I know who’ve played the class for ages. They ALL love Survival as a melee. You not liking something is not indicative of what all hunters like/want/think the class/spec should be. There’s career hunters w/ CE, Rank 1 glad, etc who love it. Who are you to tell them it’s not a real Hunter spec?

Also, you’re talking to the wrong person about classes being changed/gutted. All 3 of my Priest specs were totally annihilated several times throughout the past. Most noticeably is Disc Priest which was turned from an extremely fun/satisfying bubble god into w/e it is now. Shadow was also gutted and changed from a satisfying dot cleaver to a stupid resource builder/spender with a void burst phase. Anyway, most if not all classes have had huge change at some point. It’s done to keep things fresh and to prevent builds from being too similar to others. Survival now is definitely great and very fun. What YOU THINK on how something should be isn’t how things MUST be. Clearly the devs make the spec and they made it melee (thank god).

can you shoot a sniper rifle from melee distance? Yes. Does that make it a melee weapon? No, it does not.

The very definition of ranged is that it CAN be used from range at great effectiveness, not that it MUST be used from range.

But, sure; you can also be obtuse.

They would probably be on board with that, if the additional spec was basically meta.

Actually I think it’s pretty fun. Don’t get me wrong my personal jam for hunter is marksmanship but it’s not terrible. I just have a rogue and a monk so my melee urges are done through them.

Someone never mastered the butt stroke. LMK if getting smacked by a rifle w/ a wood or synthetic stock don’t hurt or even straight up kill you. :stuck_out_tongue:

of course, I’m sure getting smacked by a rifle does the same dmg as getting shot by it…

While getting shot in terms of kinetic force trauma would be “worse”, getting killed by a blunt force strike to the face is still getting killed right? Diff means, same end. Anyway, who’s saying snipers and melee etc? This thread is about survival hunters and they use swords, axes, and spears.

the entire argument came because someone said there are no ranged classes at all in wow. Everyone is melee (even casters) just because there are no min requirements.

That’s pretty dumb.
