Trial accounts and Warband Bank

Have trial accounts been shut out of Warband Bank access? I do not see this limitation listed in the restrictions on trial accounts. My subscription ran out of time today, and my level 20 characters get an error when trying to access the warband bank. Other people are asking in Bug reports if something has gone wrong. I request clarification on this issue. If a new restriction as gone into effect of trial accounts, please update the terms stated for trial accounts.

I have added my comment to the relevant thread in bug reports. Posting here, in hopes of getting real answers sooner.

Support Forum Agents would have the same information that we would have in regards to development decisions within the game, especially around Warband Banks. Customer Support is a not a bypass to get bugs looked at quicker, because the team relevant for investigating the bugs being reported, are the ones who look at the Bug Report Forums or in-game. They don’t come to Customer Support. And the team responsible for investigating bugs will only post in the bug report forums if needing extra information.

From what I am seeing, there does appear to have been unannounced changes made today regarding unsubbed accounts having access to the Warband Bank.

I stated it in another thread, but it makes sense, since it would allow trial accounts to circumvent the 1k gold limit on a character and could allow them to amass gold in the warbank without having an active sub.

This also would allow unsubbed accounts to earn more than the theoretical 65 character*1,000g per character=65,000g account limit, since they could offload gold to the warbank and then resume earning gold.

I was always kind of surprised they ever allowed trial accounts to touch the warbank, since you can’t even use a mailbox.

One minor detail: The character could accumulate as much gold as they wanted if they kept depositing it in the warband bank to make room for new gold, sure, but if they attempted to withdraw said gold, all gold beyond 1000g would vanish into the ether.

True, but this doesn’t really affect anything in practice – Even if the full on trial character somehow got enough gold to buy a WoW token, they can’t use warband bank funds to do so on the character select screen… and if they tried to withdraw the gold to have it all on one character to buy a WoW token on the character select screen, well, see the emphasized part above.

The whole point is that a regular account that doesn’t have active game time, could potentially farm up a ton of gold while not subbed and then pay cash for a single month to then buy tokens or move the gold around since it’s not frozen, or do stuff with the AH, etc etc.

The change is 100% there to combat bot farming operations that would do similar things to what I’ve said above. It’s to prevent self-sustaining networks of accounts and mass bot farms.

I hadn’t heard about any myself (that doesn’t mean there wasn’t a change), but that does make sense. Sounds more like closing a loophole than a bug.

I would think this sort of change would have been announced somewhere. :man_shrugging:

Yeah, like I said, it seemed odd that they even allowed it in the first place when a trial/inactive account can’t even use a mailbox. I shouldn’t have said that I was 100% positive, but I am definitely 99% sure that it was an intentional change and that it’s combat/prevent exploitive behaviour.

Even on a 4h cooldown, that still means you could farm 6,000g per license per 24h with a bot operation or 48,000g per fully stacked account per 24h or somewhere around 1.5 million gold per month. And that’s for free(after buying the base game) without having to pay for an active sub. If you wanted to, you’d only need to pay for time for the master account and not the alt accounts, if you wanted to move the gold around. Obviously, bot farms are doing stuff like this with hundreds of accounts and licences at a time.

They may eventually adjust it to where the item storage part will work, but I definitely forsee them keeping currencies locked out of being touched by trial/inactive accounts.
