Every time I’ve played retail I only played it for transmogs, new rated pvp transmog out? Gotta get 1800+. New raid mog that looks good? Gotta raid. New rare transmog? Gotta farm. Nothing else really appealed to me, classes felt dull to play, every patch I had to change some spec because they buffed other one and nerfed current (I don’t like underperforming playing a spec that’s weaker, so that sucks). But also no transmogs means you can see what someone wears just by looking at them.
What do you think? Add transmogs to extend content Classic Wrath has greatly, letting players farm transmogs from all over first 3 expansions, or keep it as is?
good news! In about a year and a half from now (my guess) they will be releasing Cataclysm Classic, and I can 99.99% certainty tell you it will ship with transmogging already available. Pre-patch will bring it, even.
This is genuinely one of the weirdest motivations to play the game I’ve ever heard. And I’ve mained on Moonguard before… If transmog is the biggest thing you care about in WoW, there are so many other games that have a way better selection of looks, with more ability to customize granular details. I’m curious what draws you to WoW specifically with this in mind? Were you drawn into WoW earlier and transmog took over as your reason for playing? Or perhaps WoW just offers the highest number of things you look for in a game?
Keep as is, 100%. Transmog is a cool feature and I enjoyed farming/building new transmog sets as much as the next person, but it removed a couple important aspects of the game. Chiefly, knowing what you were up against in PvP, and also that looking really cool, or perhaps a better word would be “complete”, required some effort and accomplishment on the players’ parts with every new raiding/PvP season.
Both of these aspects are completely absent in Retail, and they contribute to the game feeling very different. These things are definitely on the list of things that I missed most about old WoW when I played Retail.
I understand the playing for fashion, but I just think it’s the wrong game for it. I like to see a player’s power just by looking at them without having to inspect. Seeing someone wearing full tier, or that one weapon. Seeing someone in full big dick pvp gear.
Maybe in retail nobody cares so it doesn’t matter, but I wouldn’t want it in Classic ever (not playing cata so that doesn’t count).
I understand I’m probably a big minority here, but I hate transmog.
I think it’s cool seeing someone, and knowing based on their portrait, or gear how good they are. Being able to tell what they are actually wearing. If they’re gonna destroy me in PvP or not stand a chance, etc.
I always found it weird and immersion breaking seeing people in full tier xmog looking really sweet, but actually in full greens leveling an alt.
Considering I literally sit in town and log out in a transmog set (while technically complete, still one piece I don’t have for my ideal set) , yeah I’m good with just adding it now. Most wrath gear is kind of fugly anyway.
I still say enable transmog for your own character only — re: only you can see your own transmog.
This way there’s no influence on gameplay (everyone see what you’re actually wearing) while still allowing users to play dress-up and ‘look nice’ with their current gear if they choose.
