Transmog restrictions and the First Mates' Hat

Can a Community Manager verify, with all the loosening of Transmog restrictions that are being promised “In a later patch”, If the First Mate’s Hat will be cosmetic, and not cloth? I would hope, with the immediate response in regards to questions about Transmog restrictions, there will be some clarity.

Is transmog restricted to your class primary armor type only (warrior - plate, for example), or can any armor type you can equip be used for transmog?

Because, if the second option, then anyone can transmog a cloth item, since all classes can equip cloth.

From what I understand, it’s only restricted to Class armor type, and You can only match like with like, Cloth to Cloth, Plate to plate, etc, with the exception of Cosmetic pieces, which have no stats, and are only available for cosmetic reasons.

They talked about loosening transmog restrictions, mentioning that certain items previously deemed “Too silly” will be considered fine for Transmog. Also, according to the devs, it was also mentioned that you could hide every armor slot item, except for pants.

I’m hoping they’ll also consider removing holliday only stipulations for cosmetic gear, like those nice models for hats that were overlooked during Hallow’s End.

I must also chip and show my unmitigated support for removing the “event only” restrictions for holiday gear.

Those black tuxedo pants are a criminal offense to be worn only once a year for a WEEK ONLY.

There is nothing even remotely silly about it. Same for the tuxedo shirt.

They’re stylish and look better than 100% of the pants available in the game and are the only actually BLACK pants gear.

RIDICULOUS.

I think old legendaries should be used as transmog. I want to use shadowmourne so badly

It will still just be cloth.

By loosening they meant the fish and stuff, as in “too silly” (as you say.) They never said anything about letting people wear transmogs that other people could already wear (like the first mate hat.)

So I’m pretty sure it would be a “no.”

My priest still mogs that sometimes. It is kind of better that everyone can’t.

At this point in time, they should just make the HD version of the First Mates’ Hat available for transmog, along with all the other fancy pirate/navy hats they made for 8.0.1.

Still, it doesn’t make a lot of sense for some of these appearances like First Mate Hat being cloth only, but it’s just a relic from the way Vanilla WoW gear was designed.

We should enact a war campaign against the tyrannical legacy of the foul Dreadlord Zugsworth.

Row, row, me hearties! Fight the power!

How do we still not have a cosmetic eye patch?

This is THE expansion for pirate garb… come on Blizzard.

Hey, you guys didn’t want to wear cloth. That’s the price you pay.

If you want a rich and vibrant hat choice - roll cloth.

‘Fun’ gear earned via quests or holiday events should definitely be reclassified as cosmetic.

I’ve got a cloth gas mask with zero stats on it that is just sitting in my Paladin’s bank.

Only a spineless, prissy weakling would roll cloth.

What are you, an elf?

… Oh. I see.

Jealous of my ability to 'mog cool cloth hats? How petty.

They have a gym called “Curves” for women like you, Kul Tiran. Too bad you can’t lose weight in that fat head. Maybe a good hat would fit if it were a tad smaller.

What’s the matter, lady? You’re saltier than the briniest sea! Pffft…

One Haymaker across your glass face and you’re done anyways.

How adorable.

I’m waiting for you to stammer out another nervous elvish response.

Funny you mention the sea. Are you upset because the last time you laid on a beach, people rolled you into the ocean, fearing you were a beached whale?

I might fear a Haymaker, but I am sure gravity wins against your will to rise every time.

You’re over here trying to get a rise out of me or summat over my weight but in MY culture - a REAL culture, a prime human one brimming with… Potential - my weight and height is beautiful.

I’m beautiful, strong, long, and hot.

You’re sad, mad, and feel bad because you’re not!

Even in your “culture” - if you can call it that - the major characters use the normal Human model. Flynn. Taelia. Jaina. Tandred. Kathrine.

They eschew the laziness of their more hefty ilk, perhaps because they get up and do stuff.

A human is a human is a human, puny elf girl!

I know, it’s a lot. The hair, the bod! You’re lookin’ at a demi-goddess!
