Transmog Prices

great suggestion…do that. I’ll pay higher repair bills gladly so I can play around with the thousands of mogs Ive already did the grind for.

The only issue with that is, no one benefits from transmog cost other than blizzard.

Flask, food, crafting, most of that is done by players who get money from other players to create an economy. No one gets a kickback from changing your outfits. I like that one comment that says if someone uses your transmog mount, you get a small kickback but other than that, no one benefits.

As it it now, it’s just a money sink

i only do delves and lfr at least so i ignore potions, flasks, and food

the enchants seem generally really weak too. An extra .1% of mainstat for 2000g? I only do it since it’ll be there passively all the time, and I just get the 2-star version, not 3

Yes that’s a good thing. They want to get that gold out of the game entirely because gold can also be generated infinitely from quests and killing mobs, albeit slowly.

I was only doing the 2 star quality stuff for a while but after I got to a certain point it felt like an upgrade to go up to the 3 star rank stuff!

Everyone benefits from transmog cost. Because it’s a money sink.

Flasks, food and crafting dont take money out of the economy, they just move it around. If the economy perpetually has more and more money in it, thats inflationary. Real money sinks, like expensive mounts, repairs and mog, are what produce downward pressure on prices.

No worries, like I said, I need them for sockets and crafted gear. Once I gear my alts, I’ll start selling them like I normally do.

Not really asking for ways to make gold, just throwing out the idea for reducing the price of transmogs.

This is a solid idea. I’m on board with that too! Even charging for extra save slots could be an option.

The issue is that out of those 3 examples you gave, only 1 affects people running high end competitive content while the other 2 mostly affects casuals/cosmetic focused players who usually have a lot less gold than most other players. The players who make serious amounts of gold are the carry sellers (so people who wouldn’t be impacted by 2 out the 3 of your examples) and AH goblins/botters who wouldn’t be affected by any of your examples.

So you basically end up with a completely illogical system that doesn’t even work well for deflationary purposes to begin with.

easy fix…STOP DUMPING gold into the economy in the first place…then those costs dont need to be so high. Problem literally solved.

what I love about this is you take flippers, for example.
Theyre not farming squat…might not be raiding or doing anything to even have repair bills…and likely dont give a squat about transmogging in the first place.
Literally sitting back flipping everything in sight, making mint every day of the week for their capped out bank accounts…meanwhile the game is bleeding everyone else dry on transmog and repair costs lol

I say screw all the costs and we go to a flat tax lmao

There is a broader benefit in the sense that it helps reduce inflation and as a secondary effect makes everything else a little cheaper. How much exactly is hard to quantify though

This is flawed monetary policy. It’s like saying “stop all the downloading!” in regards to online piracy, you might as well be screaming it at a wall because people are still going to do it.

All this would do is create a prisoner dilemma, and the first person to break the “stop dumping gold!” agreement (how would this even be enforced?) stands to benefit from it the most. The incentives are impossible to align here

That just sounds like blizzard is not doing a good job in incentivizing people to buy stuff. If certain mounts weren’t 1 mil, 5 mil to buy, which is an insane amount of money for non AH moguls to buy, people, myself included, would buy more of these luxury mounts in order to reduce the amount of P2P money going around. But charging 600 gold to change an outfit feels like a punishment rather than something that’s good for a fake world economy. I just don’t see why transmog cost have to be the system that offsets the fact they charge an arm and a leg to buy things nowadays

People already complain about how little gold drops from dungeons and enemies/vendor junk, can’t imagine how bad the outcry would be if they severely limited that gain, too.

Thats a lot of assuming you’re doing there. Lots of sweats also transmog and collect mounts. Arguably casuals have much, much lower repair costs because they’re not dying dozens of times to hard content.

The AH goblins and people selling carries are the targets of wowtokens - blizzard asks them to stop hording gold in exchange for game time, by giving it to someone who has a much higher likelihood of recirculating the gold into sinks.

LOL…guessing your the sort who actually believes the US gov can keep printing money and we ‘cant go broke’ because we can just keep printing money lmao

Ah so you’re mistaking need for want well I doubt Blizzard is going to lower the cost transmog is probably the #1 gold sink in the entire game

…and I wonder why those players arent tossing fits about the costs for everything?
If I get 2000 grand a week pay, then 1600 in costs…id be MUCH better off getting 1000 bucks a week instead and having 200 in costs.

transmog uses the same exact calculations as repair costs. higher ilvl means higher mog cost. heirlooms are the exception, they stay at 1gold cost forever

Uhh no, I actually think the exact opposite. How does saying “stop dumping gold!” actually stop anything? Why would people listen?

Inflation in this game is an issue, because people have had multiple decades to stack millions of gold with not enough gold sinks, but blocking people from spending that gold is a terrible idea.

Since we’re doing sweeping generalizations now, I bet you’re the kind of person who thinks “tax the rich” is good monetary policy as if the top 1% doesn’t currently pay 90% of all tax revenue

No, I’m saying I need them; emphasis on “I” and not “need”.

I’m trash in PVP and need all the help I can get lol.

Enter one of the two reasons I lock so many characters XP in old content…cheap mogging.
