Agreed that transmog is a weird place for a gold sink. It doesn’t really matter how easy gold is to make, the issue is more that gold sink should be more on the collecting side, not the using.
Imagine if you had to pay gold to pick a different mount, every time? Doesn’t make much sense, and imo neither does mog fees. Heck, they don’t even charge for the barber shop any more, right?
Also, 100% in support of the idea that the outfit should be independent of the worn items. It’s also been bugging me that if you ctrl click an item nowadays, you see the mog and not the original item. Didn’t use to be that way.
the system in eso is pay to tmog with $$$$ you have to have a sub to change colors etc nd all the color dyes are earned thru ingame cheevs tho . Most the good outfits come from lootboxes aka crates . Its very expensive . And its jsut as expensive with gold to change armor pieces too . At least in wow all u have to worry about is gold but eso does have it a bit cooler tho .
Uhh I didn’t start playing this game until Legion and I’ve never had any issue affording transmog maybe start actually gethering/crafting and selling stuff regularly on the AH or if you’re just really desperate buy a wow token to sell.
Did you stop reading there? I addressed exactly that.
If you’re playing enough to change your mog every day and do things, you shouldn’t struggle to at a bare minimum break even on your mog costs. Unless you’re literally logging in, changing your mog, and logging off, in which case what even are you doing it for?
Why do you need to transmog as soon as you get new pieces? Simply wait until you’ve completed or near enough completed your gear set and just transmog the one time.
In ESO there is an outfit station, in that it has a collection of every armor styles you have collected (called Motifs). 99% of the Motifs are earned from playing the game, including endgame and PvP. You can buy them if you want the shortcut - but you can earn and trade for them in game. There are some motifs that are exclusive to the the Money Shop but it is minimal
(the real money store issue in ESO is the availability of mounts in-game vs the Store)
In the outfit station you can apply any type of armor / weapon appearance to any slot, regardless of class, and change the colors on any piece.
Once finished you have a permanent outfit that never changes regardless of what you wear. You pay in-game gold for it once, and only pay again if you make any new changes at a later point. But you never have to visit the station again just because you got a new piece of gear.
You can make multiple outfits, but there are limited free outfit slots.
What the previous comment is referring to is that there are “Costumes” which are separate from your created ‘Outfits’ and not from the motif collection, they’re ok - not really as prized as motifs are.
If you want to change the dye of a “Costume”, you require a subscription.
Because ESO is a B2P game with optional sub, so it has to monetize other things. But ESO is criticized fairly for over-monetizing and the unfortunate inclusion of Loot Boxes which they call “Crown Crates”.
Most of the good mounts are in that system, which sucks real hard.
Don’t forget about the unlimited crafting bag that ESO Plus gives. Can you imagine the outrage if WoW did the same? lol Fallout 76 has an unlimited scrap box and ammo box too.
Right now, is the best time to make money in an expansion. Sell all those trade goods before they get undercut all to ‘heck.’ I made 70K off of selling stuff yesterday and am not really putting much effort into things.
