Can you please comment on why transfers to servers such as Sulfuras are closed? A previous blue post indicates that this server is approaching a full and 50/50 faction balance, but there is a popular WeakAura that lets you basically count all of the users in the LFG channel. If you do this for both Horde and Alliance over a period of time, you can start to approximate server capacity and faction balance.
Using these metrics, for what it’s worth, Sulfuras’s active online population is consistently ~38% Alliance to ~62% Horde. At its peak, the realm only ever had a 10-15 min/~1000 user queue. That queue is long gone now though – it seems even the larger realms aren’t really queuing much any longer now that WOTLK is in full swing.
Sulfuras appears to be a healthy server right now, but those of us who took the free transfers for some but not all characters are now faced with the inability to bring over the rest of our alts as the server is completely locked.
Will this server ever be reopened to those of us who already have characters here to transfer our alts? Transferring alts off of mega servers keeps the Sulfuras population healthy while removing the ability for a player to log on that alt on a megaserver such as Benediction and take up a slot on that realm.
Will it ever be reopened to new Alliance players again as the active population falls off?

This is beyond absurd that we can’t even get a simple response. You’ve got a solid strategy going here “if we ignore them long enough, they’ll go away”.
Would reaching out to the big gamer sites asking them to draft up articles on the topic be enough pressure to at least get an answer?

Someone with ties to a big streamer or gaming website really needs to bring attention to this. It’s absurd. Unlock Sulfuras already.

Its been like 2 weeks man since you have said anything. Can you at least open up a place for us to ask about paid transfers?
Please unlock the servers, my friend Dave was trying to wrap his mind around why he can’t play with us and went insane. Now I have to help pay for hospital bills just because I decided to free transfer to Grobbulus earlier this year.

Please provide an update for servers that are still locked. My husband came back and cannot play with me and our friends on Grobbulus. We expect to have to pay for the transfer, but still locked after no queues for weeks now.
Can we get any kind of update for when transfers might become available for some of these realms? I’d love to transfer my alts to Pagle where I already have a level 80, so it’s not like that affects the server population. It’s been over 2 weeks since the last update.
This is the biggest threads and still no response from them…

Still waiting for transfers to open up. I play with friends on Mankrik and have toons on Grobbulus that I want to transfer over and play. Neither server has queue times during peak hours. This transfer restriction seems useless at this point. @Blizzard: Please remove.

Didn’t notice how active this thread is before I voiced my complaint. Now I think I’m a moderately intelligent human being (on a good day at least), but can some explain to me or Activision investors on or before November 7th (Activision earning’s release) why this company is refusing sales from several people requesting to pay $25 per server transfer?

Its way more than a few. Blizzard is missing out on thousands (possibly tens of thousands) of dollars by not opening servers. All the people commenting on here are just the people that go to the forums. Think about how many people you interact with in WoW that have ever even been to these forums. Until this issue with locking servers, it had probably been 10 years since I had come to these forums. There are bound to be thousands of people wanting to pay for transfers that are unable to right now.

The fact that server transfers are still closed on so many servers that have dwindling populations is leading to an exodus of players that just want to transfer to a server they already have other character’s on, or a server where their friends are playing on. Blizzard would literally be making money charging people for character transfers while also increasing subscription retention rates, but instead they leave server transfers closed and make no effort to listen to the community’s concerns. Trying to voice your concerns to Blizzard about this issue is like yelling at a brick wall, your concerns are not making it to anyone that matters ultimately. Reading through the forums it seems many are in the same boat, if they don’t open up server transfer soon, why continue playing the game and paying for the subscription. If only someone could make Blizzard realize how much money they are missing out on, then maybe they would go ahead and open up server transfers, but at this point, it seems Blizzard will just continue to do the opposite of whatever the community is rallying for.

I personally know 2 people who are waiting to create characters on Grob that haven’t resubscribed yet. I’m personally waiting to create a character there as well to join the rest of my friends but i resubscribed before finding out it was locked. Really annoying to be paying a sub but not playing the game because i can’t play with friends.

I’m currently leveling my character on other server knowing that i will have to pay the transfer some day to play in Sulfuras with my friends, and even though we didn’t recieve any answer, nor negative or positive.
So at least we should recieve an answer, a date, at least a spark of hope, or even a total negative so we can stop trying.
This got really frustrating.

I’m in the same boat. I’m leveling a human DK on Earthfury because 9 of my IRL friends are locked into Sulfuras without me. I’m supposed to be the tank for our 10 man raid group. I’m just piddling around on Earthfury on my own while I wait for Blizzard to unlock the servers.
