I know character transfer will let you transfer to another account or realm. I’m wanting to transfer my retail WoW characters to my other account but also to a different realm than where they are now. Is that possible or 2 different transactions?
Realm and account can be done at the same time, and you can even opt into a faction change for an additional fee if you want.
We somewhat regularly get posts where it turns out people have accidentally moved them to a different license.
Please do take into consideration that account specific unlocks and collections will remain with the originating account. This tends to catch a lot of people off-guard. Also, you will have to choose a new name for the characters you’re transferring. There are a couple of articles that it’s usually good to read through to understand all of what’s what when you move between accounts.
Oh, and hopefully both accounts are in the same name (unless this is a parent/legal guardian and child situation).
Changing names isn’t an issue but the account bound items might be. Thanks so much for mentioning that. I’m actually wanting to have 1 account with all my classic characters and unfortunately, the account I played classic on I never played retail on. I read you can’t transfer classic characters to other accounts so that really sucks.
Yah, a lot of people don’t tend to think about the account-bound things, unfortunately. And that all the other game iterations, they’re locked to a single account. If I recall correctly, (and take this part with a grain of salt -because even I’m not 100% on it), a lot of it tends to be because those games are free. You’re only ever paying a subscription for Retail. The rest are just bonuses when it boils down to it. That may change one day, they may hold firm. We’re all kind of at the whim of the Devs and The Powers That Be. ^^
But you are welcome, even though there was information that throws a wrench or two into things. Good luck, however you choose to go forward!
Thank you thank you
