Transfer between family accounts

Hi and thanks for the great game. First, I would like to know if we can also transfer between 2 accounts of the same family members? (since its a little bit different than what is actually stated. Second, let say my son got his first and only suspension in 18 years into Dragonflight and its suppose to end like 6 days into War Within, does that mean we are screwed to transfers any characters right now and after the 23 of July? We just don’t want to have to pay 2 accounts for ever…please help a poor person! Thanks

If the two of you have the same last name, yes. Just make sure both bnets have the same first name. You can edit your first name in your account details.

As far as the suspension goes, I was under the impression you could not transfer off a license that was suspended or banned because that would greatly decrease the point of the punishment.

And yeah you do have to pay for two subscriptions at some point. Your son can’t be on your account forever. The rules say you can share with a minor child, not a grown relative.

Edit: Yeah it says right here that you can’t transfer to or from a suspended account:

Unfortunately you will have move him off your account, if the time frame is accurate. Your son is no longer a minor and should not have access to your account.

Tovi is right about the limitations. I think you can’t transfer while a license is suspended or banned.

Keep in mind that Blizzard does not allow Bnet account sharing with the exception of one minor child being allowed to use a Bnet account registered to a parent or legal guardian. That is not actually advised either, although technically allowed.

Only the person who has their name on the Bnet account should ever be accessing that account.

Also, we can no longer transfer game licenses between Battlenet accounts. Soon, we won’t be able to transfer characters between Battlenet accounts either.

Every member of your family should be on their own Battlenet account with their own WoW licence. If there are minors, the parental controls should be set up by the parent on the account.

The way the OP worded it it sounds like we’re dealing with an adult/minor child situation…if that’s the case they’re allowed to play on the same account. Though it’s not advised due to the way battle.net account bound stuff works nowadays. Eventually the child will turn 18 and need their own account, and very soon it will no longer be possible to transfer characters to different accounts period, so they will lose everything they earned on the parent’s account and have to start over.

However it should be noted that there is no such thing as “family accounts”, and sharing is not allowed with the one exception of an adult/minor child that they are the parent/guardian of.

This is where people are thinking the family member is at least 18, if they have been playing for 18 years and only recently got a suspension.

Regardless, the minor should have their own account even if technically they are allowed on one parent’s account. That is not a good long term solution when license transfers and char transfers are no longer allowed. They also don’t allow any minors under 13 to play at all. Over 13 can have a Bnet account in their own name with the Parent on it as parental controls.

That changed in the last EULA update.

No one 12 and under can play any games (use the platform). No one 17 and under can create their own account.

Thus minors, only 13 and up, have to be on a parent’s/guardian’s account.

No, they do not need to be on a Parent’s account and should not be. The account needs to be set up in the name of the minor with the Parent setting up Parental controls. The parent does have to read the rules and agree when the child sets it up.

Children under 13 may not utilize an Account, the Platform, nor enter into this Agreement even with the consent of a parent or legal guardian. Account users 13 or older but under 18 or the age of majority where they live (a “Child”) must review this Agreement and the Privacy Policy together with your parent or guardian. If you are the parent or legal guardian of an Account user who is a Child, you also agree to be bound by this Agreement on the Child’s behalf.

The parent must CONSENT, but they are not required to put the account in the parent’s name, esp given Blizzard does not allow account sharing between adults and no longer transfers things.

Blizzard has been telling people for a long time now to set up the account in the child’s name (13 and over) with parental controls. Otherwise the child loses the license, chars, and all the account bound stuff if they are on the Parent’s actual playing account.

If I am wrong about this then Vrak or Orly will correct me, but I don’t think I am.

They do. Read the paragraph above that one. Only adults can make accounts. Making accounts requires legal name, which is the creator, the adult.

Thus no minor can have an account in thier name.

The consent is while the minor uses the adult’s account.

I am sorry, but that is not true. It is also not what Blizzard tells people to do. The parent must AGREE to the terms, if the account creator is a minor between 13 and 17. It does not require a person to be an adult to create an account in their name.

You must be and hereby affirm that you are an adult of the legal age of majority in your country and state of residence. If you are under the legal age of majority, your parent or legal guardian must consent to this Agreement. By installing or using Blizzard’s online gaming platform, you represent that your parent or legal guardian consents to this Agreement.

A minor over the age of 13 can create a Battlenet account in their own name as per the terms.

Only adults can create accounts.

There is nothing that says minors can. In fact. That verbiage used to be in the EULA and it was removed in the last update.

Believe ot or not.

As for what Bliz says or enforces, that’s not really relevant.

I feel the topic gone off the rails and heavily gone into a debate yhat this thread isnt about. I say take it to the off topic thread if you want to get into the finer details for the sake of OP getting the help they want.

i tried to not derail any further, but have zero impulse control. :expressionless:

it says that the minor must enter into the agreement with the consent of an adult.
not that the agreement needs to be made in the adults name.

minors have legal names :stuck_out_tongue:
