There are theories (not hypothesises) that support gender being a social construct to some degree.

Gender is something inflicted upon people from an early age, sometimes even before birth. Parents talk to, treat, and raise people with certain bits different from others. They socialize them differently, give them different toys, mass media inflicts it, once kids learn it they further reflect it back on their parents and on their peers.

A female, naturally, would be someone assigned as such at birth due to the presence of sex organs, and/or someone who uses the pronouns she/her/hers.

Me, as a trans person, whenever I fill out a form that asks for gender because I’m not sure if they mean gender or sex.

Did they assign their gender or are you just trying to place blame on someone. To me it looks like they say male or female based on sex organs for medical purposes because being female or male matters when it comes to anything medical.
