Trading SoD gold for Classic Anniversary Gold Bannable?

title says it all. Is it bannable? Google says it is allowed. But someone told me they got banned.

ToS says as long as it is not RMT. But people say they have received a ban.

Just assume the answer is “yes.”

If you trade with someone that’s giving you stolen gold, Blizzard will suspend or ban you, even though you had no idea that person is a thief.

can you find me a post about this.

In-game for in-game is generally not considered against any rules.

BUT!

It would be considered an unsupported transaction. Which means that if someone were to not live up to their end of the bargain, Blizzard would be hands off and the likelihood of gold being retrieved is next to zero or just zero.

Additionally, even if one person is being 100% legit with their side, all it takes is the other side involving real money or a compromised account, there’s a very real chance the 100% legit person will get the ban hammer or at least a suspension.

Can you find me a post about stolen gold? I am now afraid of trading anyone in /2 because of this news.

Here is a recent post from a Blizzard employee in response to someone who was actioned for trading due to the gold they received being illicit.

if you are innocently trading gold, they don’t intend to ban you. but from their end, if they see you log in, get traded a bunch of gold from a level 1 character that’s associated with gold selling accounts, then everyone logs out… how are they to know that you were an innocent party in that? your actions are basically just that of someone buying gold, so you’re in for an argument over your innocence.

I think if you trade gold with a max/high level character, and the account is clearly used more normally, your chances are better. They could of course rip you off still, though.

Well. I was hoping it was some guy who needs gold for AQ who is playing anniversary until then. But oh well.
