Trading post ..and mogs in general

Chinese themed mogs … on chinese new year… The audacity

I simultaneously somewhat agree with OP and also think that bow and sword look so good.

I agree it’s all very flamboyant and nonmasculine. Mix it up, please, Blizz.

I know that feeling!

There is definitely too much festival-style/mardi gras transmog on the trading post. There’s another word for such costumes, but I’ll get kerbanned.

I would very much like to see a broader variety of things available from the trading post, rather than it all being this one theme (or adjacent to this one theme).

Sorry, to atone for sins of the past we need to dismantle your settler colonialist toxic masculinity and infest the game with Modern Day sensibilities like going to therapy and valorizing disabilities.

Hilarious that you have to preface your post with so many qualifiers to avoid getting banned for merely noticing.

Save the snark, just noting that it’s obviously a demographic being catered to by the rewards team. What are the odds that they’d be celebrating Chinese New Year if Chinese players comprised an insignificant number of people who were going to engage with that content?

The worst offenders are the round end swords. They look like nerf swords and for war, that ain’t cool. Ya know?

I mean… What better time of year would you suggest for them to add such themes in? If theyre gonna do it, now is the absolute best time.

The trading post is always holiday themed. We got the hearts and what not for v-day, flowers and clovers for st. Pattys and may… Fireworks and grilling for july… Snow and ribbons for christmas…

I get it, you dont like them pandering to china… I dont either, but chinese new year is the one time its okay

You know who needs to dress up manly? People who dont feel theyre manly.

Challenging someone’s gender credentials because murloc pajamas aren’t their style? Really?

How short is your memory? We just had the Gladiator and Sylvanas armor in november, the steampunk stuff in January, all of the old stuff came back this month, every month has had bits and pieces mixed in.

If you don’t like anything this time it just means you get to save for later.

Bro, I doubt that many people are dressing up in plate armor to cultivate an aura of masculinity in the eyes of their neighbors and coworkers. This is a video game where people play fantasy characters that they want to look cool, and since that is subjective, there’s no more shame in choosing to make those characters look masculine than there is in making them look feminine.

Once you meet women in your life, you will realize that they are not all about pink hair and purple boots.

Some wear guns, others do sports like kickboxing, hey there are even those that dress in jeans and shirts, while driving a truck.

It´s crazy how some influencers of WOW that dress up in pink with fluffy bunny ears… have completely brainwashed an entire generation of gamers.

Whats even more crazy, is everyone jumping on the OP for his equally valid opinions.

I think there’s a couple things going on:

  1. The Trading Post follows Holidays / Seasons / In-game Events. I don’t think it should. I think it’s a waste of opportunity. We already have transmogs from Holidays. We already have perfectly good Holiday currency farms. Put the Seasonal Event mogs on the Seasonal Event vendors, not the Trading Post. BUT. This is how it currently is. So we get a lot of silly outfits and wings and hearts and stuff for Holidays like Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Halloween, and end up with Beach stuff and flowers during May/Summer.
  2. The less thematic bits of mog are harder to place into regular gameplay. The Trading Post allows them to drop it into the game without having to justify its existence. So the Skirts and Scarves and Butterfly Wings and stuff end up stacking up there. Especially since they abuse recolors as filler for the Trading Post (though I don’t actually mind with the generic stuff, since it can be really useful when making mogs).

To some extent I like it. The scarves and skirts and tabards have been a godsend.

But I dislike Holiday-themed stuff in general, and as much as I like the generic stuff I just mentioned and all their recolors, I definitely can count the number of full blown mog sets I’ve cared about on the Trading Post on, you know, like 1 finger. Plus the 12-month thing but that barely even counts since it’s more of an achievement.

Just tip for the future, you can leave this part out and still have a valid point. It’s a real hot topic and likely to get you heat and undermine your point.

Otherwise, it’s totally cool to want more macho vs cutesy things. Butterfly wings aren’t your cup of tea, fair enough. :butterfly:

I don’t think all women like the “girly” stuff. But I bet you that more women like it than men like it.

I suspect more women like transmog, even if they like guns and jeans, than men. That’s just my gut feeling. The women I know like customizing things more than men even if they are customizing their truck.

And I also think that if both of those things are true then it makes more sense to have “girly” stuff on the trading post because they want people to buy the product.

Says you, ill clank around menacingly while watering my garden!

I can tell you as a Moon Guard player, the Goldshire Inn denizens love these transmogs.
