I see you
You get 500 tender for just logging in. Dont have to do anything
It’s an activity reward system. Thanks for responding hours later and with the same answer as Sendryn though.
Crepsly’s Conspiracy Time
Everyone have their tinfoil hats ready? Cool, here we go!
Ahem … The bulk of good items available all of a sudden (2 mounts and a pet), and no lower-cost purchasable tender in the shop like previously (The $20 mog and the $5 bracelet bundle that were a front used to buy tender for RL money before) leads me to one conclusion:
They’re coercing people into pre-purchasing the expansion, which awards 500 - 1,000 tender depending on which level of expansion you purchase.
This is currently the only way to replenish your depleted tender wallet. Seems just a little too coincidental if you ask me.
I just wish we’d get more tender when we completed more of the checkoff items. I always get bummed when the bar is filled and I’m out doing things in the world and I get that little popup that I completed another item on the list, but no additional tenders are given. I wouldn’t even mind if it was like…10 or 20 tenders after the bar is filled…just…something for completing more items. /shrug
I have an obsessive collectors urge and WoW is one of the games that made me fight it. All that does is force me to play less and become numb to whatever they offer. I don’t like either option.
If I could somehow farm tenders to get everything I wanted, I’d do it off and on. It’s the sweet middle ground for players like me. It could even take an outrageous amount of time to farm it, all that matters is that it can be done. Gets rid of that sense of dread.
Admittedly folks like me have a problem so take all that however you want. I’m just saying it’s probably why these threads exist in the first place.
I have over 4k tender.
Yall need to budget better.
Reminds of that candle budget meme
I am sitting on almost 10k tender.
Personally, I have not found the trading post items to be all that impressive.
I speak only for myself.
Usually i get the cloak stuff - thats a guarantee for me. The mounts im not really big on unless i feel it’ll fit thematically with a character.
Just don’t buy trendy things, like stanley cups.
I have almost 5000 tender I think. It’s rare I see anything I find worthwhile
For a month after trading post came out, I didn’t know about the reward you get for doing activities and filling in that bar, RL was hectic and I was guildless and just never noticed it, so I am a month behind on getting warden mog.
Yea. I wish there was more ways to get more tenders really. It sucks I have wait for another month to get all the transmog stuff.
No.
At least you are self-aware, or have humour. But still, no.
Rift’s began like this one, where you only had to login once a month to get something. But once it went f2p, it became a daily login rewards system. From my experience, they’re all mostly daily login ones now, because most of the other games have f2p, so they want people logging in every day, while Blizz only needs you to login once a month.
Old Republic and Rift cycled their rewards. Rift went to an end of the month reward that was an RNG box for a mount. Originally, it was a rotation of items once a month for coins.
Now that I’m much more awake than I was last night when I replied to you… you’re not wrong. It’s a mix of the two: login rewards system and “seasonal” system. It’s foremost a login rewards system, because you get 500 Tender just for logging in once a month. That keeps the subs, that’s all they need is just that once a month login. That’s what marketing is after more than what else you earn later.
But it does combine with the task system, which is part of a “seasonal” activity system. Slightly different in that it’s much shorter, being only a month long, because they want the logins and monthly subs. But the same concept.
You need to do Like I did, Not buy anything,… My total is now up to 7000
I know! I went into Best Buy once, and I was so disappointed that I couldn’t afford to buy every single item in the store!
You aren’t meant to buy everything. That is the whole point of the trading post, to keep you coming back month after month. Does this really need to be said again?
Yuppers.
Hell, even in my thread, i pointed this out to other games that does. It’s not exactly uncommon to see something like that.
But sadly, so many people that don’t know what the trading post actually is, just labeling something it’s not instead of actually investigating what it is. It’s pretty forced and it shows these people don’t play any other game other then WoW.
Indeed it’s not.
This sort of meta activity to reward system existed for quite awhile now. As far back as 2004 in single player games like The Sims 2 with it’s aspiration rewards. Or 2006 with Need for Speed Carbon with their challenge cards.
Getting rewards in game is like real shopping!
