There is this addon called Bigboy. It filters out whatever you don’t want to listen to
In a sense yes. But what he wants is for EVERYONE to be herded into specific channels so that its neat and orderly except for where all the spam and garbage chat goes. And for this to be the default thing to happen.
People don’t work like computer directories, unless explicitly forced to do so. The only comparable situation I can think of is an actual forum where people can monitor and move discussions to proper subforums, but this requires someone to actively do it. Blizzard isn’t going to hire people to actively monitor trade chat on every server and reprimand or force change peoples chat channel so that they leave trade alone for trading.
And I get that. But there’s an addon that was created specifically for this purpose to improve a player’s experience if that is what they want or needed. After a certain point it isn’t really Blizzard’s fault.
Yea, but you can’t force an addon on everyone.
I was all for the egg spam but no, people like the OP can’t get enough of the mythic+ chinese spam.
Then it is their fault for not using the tools available to them.
Yea, but the issue only exists if you have a problem with it, and he wants to fix the problem for everyone, even if you don’t have a problem.
Well, assuming everyone wants something fixed that people can fix already is quite an assumption to make.
It is, and thats what he’s getting at. He wants to clear the trade channel for everyone so that it can be only used for its intended purpose, whether you have a problem or not.
Adding an optional world channel is only providing a solution to people who want to continue using a broadcast channel. Otherwise he probably doesn’t care what happens to the spam.
I haven’t been paying a lot of attention to Trade chat lately. Since we know Biden won hasn’t the political stuff died down a bit?
What he’s getting at is he wants to fix a problem for everyone, when it isn’t a problem for everyone. And for those that it is…there’s a tool already available. It seems like a wasted effort all around.
The way I see it is, if he wants to use trade, he shouldn’t be fighting political and achievement spamming to try and buy/sell something. And removing the spam for himself isn’t enough, as it will hurt the people he’s trying to reach from seeing his offers. Removing it for everyone would give him the most visibility on his trades. He also seems to want the human aspect of trading, which is a completely personal issue and is obviously not reflected by everyone.
This is a perfectly normal reasoning, but it is a very personal issue.
Have you tried not reading trade chat? Just a thought.
Not yet since the current occupant of the peoples’ house hasn’t cried uncle yet. The most relevant Venn Diagram ever.

I made about 7.7 mil gold this xpac from ‘spamming’ TRADE chat with TRADE deals like mythic + and vision carries. Add in another few hundred dollars worth of tokens and i hit gold cap and got my feldrake this xpac and it’s all because of the trade chat you want to ban. I trade in trade chat and make enough gold to death roll hundreds of thousands every night. get out of here.
So, “trading”… politics definitely needs to go from there. The picture spam also doesn’t belong there. But the carry spam is most definitely supposed to take place there. People honestly dont trade things in this game. They sell them, they buy them.
