Selling runs does kind of qualify in trading, though it is kind of annoying. My primary concern is all the other spam.
You’ve just turned this from being an issue for you, to making it an issue for everyone. Not everyone sees the problem the same way as you and I’m one of them.
Comparing the actions they took against botters, not multiboxers is like comparing apples to oranges.
The only point you made was the politics doesn’t belong in trade chat. Selling offers of a mythic/raid carry might be spam, but its still a trade of sorts.
Trade chat has always been a pool of where everything gets posted. Following your idea would kill pretty much any communication that occurs in the city, and a ban of any length is a step too far for a chat channel you don’t need to use.
Either way the spam is going to be there, whether its in trade chat or general. You’re not eliminating it, you’re moving it and punishing people for a minute issue.
Face it my guy, it’s been like this since Classic. You’re barking up the wrong tree.
And some people are just want to “Trade” ideas and information. No need to stop these transactions.
Mythic/raid runs is I guess trading, so I see your point there even though it can be kind of annoying.
As for politics, people can talk about it all they want and I don’t mind. I just think it should be in a separate channel so people can actually trade in trade chat. I’m trying to keep trade chat meant for it’s initial intent, not trying to “push views on others” or whatever you want to say.
Why can there not be a default “World” channel for people where these conversations can continue and people can actually trade in trade chat. If anything, a “world” channel where people can see it anywhere would drive the community more than being limited to major cities…
I’ll say it again! You want to be the censor of what others can read and see based on your preferences!
With those addons everyone gets to choose what they personally do not want to see. You on the other hand seem determined Censor everyone to meet your standards!
It’s called pay to win. Blizzard not going to stop it they buy tokens to pay for it.
As I said, no need to stop these transactions either, but I feel there is a need to make a new channels that people can trade in terms of in-game items/services and not participate in those other conversations if they choose not to.
This is a non-issue and a derailment of the topic.
No. I think there should be a channel for trading in game items and services. That’s all. Players shouldn’t have to download addons to accomplish that in an MMORPG.
My main concern is not being able to actually trade in trade chat.
The only issue I see here is that you want less competition in the trading space so more people can see your posts longer, and you have to repost less frequently.
And then you’ll police the channel and make sure that anybody who uses it inappropriately (as you see it) will get banned?
Use the AH like everyone else.
It hasn’t been like this since classic. There was some banter here and there, but with the amount of people playing now, it’s no longer a trading channel. Which leads me to the conclusion that there should be a channel to separate the two things. Not stop either of them.
Use the AH to trade profession services? Temporary bans long term for people spamming a channel not used for it’s intention, in my opinion, should be a reasonable consequence down the line. People want community, but they want to take aspects out of the game like actually trading with other people. Instead they run to the AH and interface with something that’s hardly a person.
You can’t ban politics from a video game, how would you even police that?
I mean where do you draw the line? When is something political?
What about other stuff I don’t want to read about, can I ban that too?
I don’t even post in trade chat honestly, because if you’re on a big server you would know that chat runs too fast for your post to be showing for longer than 5 seconds tops.
alas, turn channel off until the wave has passed… or… fight tides.
Ban politics from a video game? I think you misread. I’m trying to separate a trade chat channel from a general channel.
Turning the channel off doesn’t solve it. Mind as well fight tides.
